It is completely within the rules for a staff member to conduct outside the performance arena. i had no idea, thanks! I don’t really feel like bands at this level should be doing it- I understand for box 1 1A bands, not GN finalists. But I don’t know where to even begin regulating it.

Visual design says "Bluecoats" to me so far for The Woodlands. Its peppy and fun with a touch of artsy.

The choir makes sense to me! Not the best band in the state and a GN medalist. But I suppose if you have the option you may as well take advantage of it

I am really enjoying The Woodlands. This group can play. They sound great. I feel like I'm listening to the soundtrack of Chicago. Love this.

But it’s completely legal so I can’t complain too much. It’s just a little confusing to me- I’m sure there’s a reason. Maybe that group can’t see the drum major at that point in the show?

My brain is like "This can't be the bottom of the upper half, but there's three others who medaled for semis and a fourth that tied for music and people were sort of surprised Flower Mound didn't medal....so....just how much more awesome is tonight gonna get?"
Cause I am REALLY liking this show from The Woodlands!

It is allowable in the rule book as long as the person conducting is out of bounds.

Maybe it will always be a mystery! It doesn’t peeve me terribly, just leaves me confused.

The Woodlands were OUTSTANDING! The commitment of those performers to the cabaret theme is incredible and I absolutely loved all of the ensemble moments. The soloists were incredible (the tenor sax in particular, especially when he pointed at the multi-cam haha) and do I need to say anything else about that color guard? They can absolutely compete with the likes of Avon and Carmel in that area! What a fantastic show!!!

THat's why I was trying to figure "ok who is the one at the bottom of the upper half that CTJ might catch?" If it IS The Woodlands, they're not catching that.

They sound like a seated concert band but they're out there marching all over the place. It's pretty impressive!
