$3k/person is a big number. Like 3/4 of my oldest kid’s entire HS band fee bill for 8 seasons (winters and falls). You’re fortunate… that’s close to a typical travel year for us- slightly higher but not by much. I’d guess NY hotels at the holidays don’t give much of a discount to bands so would have an expected higher price than Indy. We’re pretty frugal as a group. But we are fortunate that we don’t have to travel far for GN or WGI championships.

Hotels, coach bus rentals, truck rental for large instruments, food allowances for travelers, restaurant reservations for large groups, sight seeing events while in the city. Once in a lifetime opportunity though... priceless!!

It's a bit interesting to see that there haven't been any announcements yet for 2025. By this time last year, we already knew the High School bands that would be attending Macy's. Perhaps Wesley Whatley departing as creative producer has led to announcements coming later than usual.

Those 18 months are precious time.

Still nothing on this? Checked the website for a list and wound up on the application page - said groups would be notified by May 1. I know no one has announced, but has anyone heard of groups being told “no” either?

I know no one has announced, but has anyone heard of groups being told “no” either? From what I've heard (and I'm not sure about the validity of it so take it with a grain of salt), the Parade Committee usually likes to take bands that have never participated at Macy's before ahead of bands that have already participated. There are a handful of bands that have participated twice and a few that have gone three times. (this upcoming parade will be Lincoln, SD's 4th time in the parade) As for why it's taking longer than usual for announcements to come out, I really can't tell you. As I alluded to in an above comment, the Parade's creative director recently left his position, so that might be the hangup? The only thing I'm wondering about is what's going to come out first? The first Macy's band announcement or the 2024 BOA Entry Lists?

I was told by a director that applied that he received an email from Macy’s Studios that said they are “in their final stages of 2025 & 2026 selection.”
Whatever that means… Could be tomorrow, could be next month, but it’s an update!
