And that's also not taking anything away from Jenison's win at all. That is an absolute legitimate win.

Yeah this was a weird one, especially those prelims ordinals. I think the fact the top 4 we’re all pretty evenly matched and all had incomplete shows just didn’t help matters.
But hey in DCI they say the judges just get complacent, here they called it how they saw it!!

Personally I thought Finals placements were more accurate to what I saw based on both Prelims and Finals performances. I agree here. Rockford and Jenison were much better than I anticipated and totally deserved those top 2 slots.

I see a lot of comments about the results. I did not attend this regional, something called work got in the way. Historically, early season regionals tend to be a bit wild in terms of predictability. My thoughts are that there are typically two main reasons. First, the consistency in performance level is not like late season. So we often see bands do much better in finals than prelims or vice versa. Second, I do think there tends to be a little more subjectivity with the judging.
I think some are also surprised by Homestead getting 4th. Keep in mind Jenison and Rockford were not far behind Homestead at Grand Nationals last year. This is not to say that Homestead will not come back strong at Grand Nats this year. Jenison and Rockford are however two very strong programs, the best in Michigan. Jenison in particular has really been getting stronger with more sophisticated shows the last couple years. After seeing them last week, I was not surprised they won.

0.3 difference between finals round scores for 2nd (Rockford) and 3rd (Homestead). Not sure if either of these bands had their complete show on the field.
