I am organizing the Likely/Rumored sections for returning shows a little differently this year. Not a perfect system by any means, but I feel will help to add a little credibility. Each band will receive a Roman numeral “power ranking” next to their name and class that indicates how many times they have frequented the respective regional over the last four consecutive years. That’s all I had time for, and I think it is a decent enough sample size. If they receive a III or IV, it means they’ve attended three or four times out of the last four years, and chances are probably pretty good that they may compete again this year. These bands will be included in the new Very Likely category. If they receive a II, it means they’ve attended twice in the last four years, consecutively or not. Bands with a I ranking will only be included if they attended in the past year. These bands will be included in the regular Likely/Rumored category. Of course, some of these events have deviated from their normal weekend allotment, so that can certainly hinder or boost a band’s chances in attending a show they normally frequent. Like I said before, not a perfect system! I am totally open to feedback and suggestions from my fellow nerds. And as always, additional T from reliable resources will be also be considered and factored in. Confirmed (0):Very Likely (17):Canyon H.S., TX (AAAA) Coronado H.S., TX (AAA) [IV] Del Rio H.S., TX (AAAA) [IV] Estacado Early College H.S., TX (AA) [III] Frenship H.S., TX (AAAA) [IV] Granbury H.S., TX (AAA) [III] Lubbock H.S., TX (AAA) [IV] Lubbock-Cooper H.S., TX (AAA) [IV] Midland H.S., TX (AAAA) [III] Midland Legacy H.S., TX (AAAA) [IV] Monterey H.S., TX (AAA) [III] Odessa H.S., TX (AAAA) [III] Pecos H.S., TX (A) [IV] Permian H.S., TX (AAAA) [IV] Randall H.S., TX (AAA) (I) Likely/Rumored (18):
Abilene H.S., TX (AAA) [II] Azle H.S., TX (AAA) (I) Birdville H.S., TX (AAA) [II] Braswell H.S., TX (AAAA) (I) Clovis H.S., NM (AAA) [II] D'Evelyn H.S., CO (A) (I) Georgetown H.S., TX (AAA) Hobbs H.S., NM (AAAA) [II] Jack C. Hays H.S., TX (AAA) (I) M.G. Johnson H.S., TX (AAAA) (I) [2021 Midland Champion] Plainview H.S., TX (AA) [II] Robert E. Hendrickson H.S., TX (AAA) (I) San Angelo Central H.S., TX (AAA) [II] Stanton H.S., TX (A) (I) Summit H.S., TX (AAAA) [II] Timber Creek H.S., TX (AAAA) [II] Winston Churchill H.S., TX (AAAA) (I) Wylie East H.S., TX (AAAA) [II] Also, Canyon and Randall will both be AA. Canyon is the one up by Amarillo in the same school district as Randall. West Plains High School is opening up this coming fall which will take Randall’s 9-12 enrollment down to ~1170. Canyon is in the low 1100s 9-12. I believe this will be Canyon’s first ever BOA event. Should they attend 😉

Unlikely:
Sandra Day O'Connor H.S., TX
They have Midland on their calendar, but on the same weekend as McAllen. I'm assuming it's the date that's correct and just an accidental mixup when inputting it, but I thought I'd note it here.

Timber Creek will likely not do Midland for the foreseeable future. The directors have talked about how they dont believe that Midland does any good for the band. The competition is not competitive enough for the band to justify spending the time and money required to attend the event. Not the kind of thing I'd say out loud to my band but maybe that's just me.

It certainly doesn’t look good for Timber Creek to have it said that they aren’t doing a competition because it’s basically “not worth their time.” I like TC a lot but this type of comment comes off as very pretentious and off putting. There are MANY good reasons for a band to attend a BOA Regional like Midland, and I can assure you that WINNING it isn’t very high on that list, if it’s even on their list at all. And if that IS one of the biggest reasons a band decides to attend, then perhaps they need to seriously rethink their priorities. Especially if they think so poorly of the other bands attending. I also sincerely hope you misunderstood the TC directors.

Agreed. Not to mention that I think it's good to have as many competitive bands attend Midland as possible. The other bands in West Texas need to be exposed to as much as possible to help foster the growth of the local programs.

I think what I said has been misunderstood. my message probably came off as negative, and I now realize that the way I said it sounds like I am trying to paint the band in a negative light, and I am sorry for that. I have edited my previous post to remove all the non important things that I said. I am a member of the band and I did not intend to say anything negative about the directors or the program. I love my band, I now realize what I said was wrong and lacking some context. I am sorry.
