They're going this year. 😉 Not according to the published schedule? It's little bit of joke they're going to USBands Nationals

- Congrats on West Orange (NJ), Downingtown East (PA), Downingtown West (PA), Wakefield (MA), and Dartmouth (MA) on their 1st final appearance.
I didn't realize this was actually the FIRST time that Dartmouth attended a BOA regional. Wow! Anyone know the last time a band won a regional during their first attendance?

Maybe Joe E. Newsome? Catawba Ridge had gone to a regional before right? Catawba Ridge went to Orlando in 2021 and Joe E. Newsome went to BOA Regional before winning in 2015 and didn't make finals in 2007. My guess back in 1975 when it started.

I am once again speechless... BOA: Please, please, please bring this regional back again if it is feasible. There are plenty of bands in the region that have yet to participate and would be a great fit in the circuit. So many talented bands up here who deserve this experience. As far as I have heard, it is likely, but I haven't been told it's for sure confirmed.

Regionals first started in 1978. Throughout the 1980s there were a lot of bands who won a regional in their first appearance. In the more modern era I can think of just a few. Center Grove IN in 1990 (it is possible they may have attended in the early 80s), Duncanville TX in 1991, Northwestern Lehigh PA in 1996, Coronado TX in 2001, Rampart CO in 2007, West Salem OR in 2013. I may have missed a few, it is early.

Bergenfield is not included on the prelims recap sheet. It appears they were performing for evaluation only and not scored.

Bergenfield is not included on the prelims recap sheet. It appears they were performing for evaluation only and not scored. Can confirm. When attending USBands shows they always do ratings/comments only. I believe they went for the experience of performing at Rutgers and the high quality adjudication.

I bet Norwin was absolutely shocked to not win here. But, their show was kinda safe, in fact very safe. Great band, but they really needed something with a little more sparkle to beat Dartmouth.

As a spectator at this show, I was shocked they didn't win. Outside of Dartmouths percussion, nothing about that show struck me. I think they were visually clean but with very little demand in the drill or body work. I'm always happy to see new BOA bands do well but I really don't see what the judges saw Saturday. Sitting in the stands, they were two different caliber of bands.
