I like everything about Brownsburg, but the drill is pretty safe. Music has plenty of power however finesse is not quite there in terms of tone. It is early though. Glad it is not an exact copy of Mason two years ago Their run the night before at the halftime show was definitely cleaner. Storms were rolling in, lightning getting closer, and I think that gave the show a ‘hurry it up’ feel. I’m looking forward to seeing how thing progresses - the show is definitely ahead of where it was this time last year.

I've been hearing both sides from people observing Carmel this year so what I'm getting is, Carmel is Carmel and being divisive as normal. 😆

I just watched the Carmel video.
To me at least it seems like the drill is really focused on making geometric forms (like the art implied), which only really looks interesting from a high view. They're doing amazing visually for early season, especially drill and technique wise. Their upper body choreo needs a lot of work though.
In terms of music, it's kind of just there and I kind of feel as though I could've watched the video on mute and gotten the same experience. I'm sure it'll be great but clean wall of sound when live come end season but I hate Barber so much at this point.
I love Brownsburg's uniforms more than life itself

Classification update. Bourbon County remains in A. Kettering Fairmont moves up to AAAA from AAA. Walled Lake Schools moves down to AAA from AAAA. Just curious, are you guessing on Oak Hills or is theirs published? They reported 1848 last year so they are squarely on the 3A/4A bubble. Also, Fairmont was 4A last year.

Does anybody know if Walled Lake is moving back to just a single school (WLC)? This is an interesting reclassification as each school has roughly 1600 total students, 75% of which would be 2400 total 10-12 (obviously won't be exactly 75%, but figured it's sufficient for estimating 10-12 enrollment).

MUSICJay Webb Can't wait for all the conspiracy theories from fake band parents in the unlikely event that Carmel gets less than 1st in any music caption. If you don’t know, the Carmel and Avon programs, while competitive with each other, are also VERY supportive of one another.

What are we all thinking bout this year for louisville? Potential finalists?, Shows your really excited to see, Caption awards! It’s only 9 days away, I know i’ll be watching the live stream! I'm very excited to see how Beechwood will do, their show is very challenging and it's CLEAN for this early in the season.

I am no Miss Cleo, but it’s pretty safe to predict Carmel will win and sweep captions (AAAA and finals). By this coming Saturday, they should have a major portion of their show out there. When people say Carmel is Carmel. They have had the same directors for many years. Same drill designer for several years. No significant change in size (around 300 I would guess). Their show sounds interesting. Brownsburg should place second. They had/have a lot of cleaning to do (as any band that takes on a Wes Cartwright show). I don’t know enough about non Indiana bands to predict finalists.

Chesterton last attended a BOA event in 2004. If you are going to this regional, give this band a warm welcome. They are the 1981 Grand National Champions, the first Indiana band to win Grand Nationals.

Predictions!
1 - Carmel 2 - Brownsburg 3 - Centerville 4 - North Hardin 5 - Lakota East 6 - Lawrence Township 7 - Bourbon County 8 - Walled Lake 9 - Beechwood 10 - Paul Lawrence Dunbar 11 - Kettering Fairmont 12 - Madison Central
First 3 out
- Henry Clay - Victor J Andrew - Central Hardin
Bands I am probably underestimating
- Decatur Central - Adair - Columbus Schools - Woodford County - George Rogers Clark
There are quite a few bands at this regional that I’ve never heard of and I’m not sure how they’ll stack up. I also think there are some bands here who are new to BOA or at least haven’t been competing in the circuit recently or often. Can’t wait to see how things shake out!

That 2018 show was tremendous Madison Central is not bad. Personally, I would place them higher but that's his opinion. Madison Central beat Lafayette like two weeks ago twice in Prelims and Finals taking all captions but Best Percussion and with a tie in Visual. It's been quite some time since they competed in BOA so, someone can pull up the date. I absolutely adore 2018 show it's sad they place 3rd North Hardin and Lafayette had some monster shows tho. They also, place 2nd in States for the last 2 years. I haven't seen North Hardin, but Henry Clay did beat NH in Prelims but lost in Finals, so it was Bourbon County in 1st, North Hardin in 2nd, Henry Clay in 3rd.

Louisville Predictions
1. Carmel 2. Brownsburg 3. Centerville 4. Lakota East 5. Lawrence Township 6. Madison Central 7. North Hardin 8. Bourbon County 9. Walled Lake 10. Beechwood 11. Kettering Fairmont 12. George Rogers Clark
First Outs: Columbus Schools, Henry Clay, Victor J Andrew, Decatur Central
Honestly, I’ve remade this list like 10 times over the past month. This regional is absolutely stacked and finals should be VERY entertaining from start to finish. I believe Carmel will sweep captions (but it would amazing to see another group snag one). I think there are a lot of groups fighting for a medalist spot! I hope to see Madison Central place well, I think they’re set for top half of finals judging by the video that’s been posted. Spots 9-12 could be completely wrong and you can interchange any of the first outs with them. If I remember correctly, Kettering Fairmont didn’t score too well at a recent MSBA competition however I feel like they’re normally a pretty strong group at early season BOA events so I’ll stick to my gut. LE has a really nice show by visual design, lots of choreography and a stronger guard presence than years past. If they end up being in class AAA, I’d guess they’d take both Visual and GE in prelims. Musically, I think they have some tweaking to do but most groups are in the same boat this time of year. Also, I know I only have them in 9th but I would like to see Walled Lake place even higher! I was quite upset last year when I watched them at Toledo last year, I felt like they should’ve placed at least a few spots higher. It’ll be interesting to see how everything turns out!

Updated predictions.
One of the most competitive non-Texas regionals of the year, this is another contest that’s hard to predict! I think the top 9 or 10 are essentially finals locks, so that leaves the last couple of spots wide open for a plethora of incredibly talented groups. This is gonna be a fun one!

(I’m probably underestimating Chesterton and/or Pike. I have never seen either program.)

If so, they have a chance to make some noise this weekend. This is the deepest in many many years. However, the Louisville regionals of the early 2000s were very competitive as most if not all of the top Indiana bands attended. They were all very early season, so the results were often pretty wild.
