Homestead coming in hot with an 80 No surprise there. It’s a great show. Lots of cleaning to do, but if they keep pushing they are going to have a great season.

What's going on with Carroll? Judges aren't consistent with GE- 7/8/3 for prelims and 2/2/3 for finals (Music 1/2/Vis). Which one should be the one we go with?

Surprised I've never heard of Fairfield before given how huge of a band they are. Do they dabble in BOA competitions frequently? They were at the BOA Canton show last year (three weeks later in the season than today's show), where just like today, they placed 9th in Prelims and 10th in Finals (scoring 69 in the latter). Prior to that, I don't believe they had attended a BOA show for at least five years. Not sure if they had done so farther back. In my opinion, they shifted their style notably last year to appeal to what they believe BOA's aesthetics to be.

I didn’t see Carroll but as a judge would probably say average the two scores and you’ll get the “correct” result. Evan throwing out some wild MPI numbers...

Carroll played earlier in prelims while the rest of the top 4 played later. And Carroll had pre-show audio issues in prelims. Was pre-show,but still looked awkward.

This is the second BOA regional win for Homestead. Their first was in 2017.
Since 1990, this regional had been held in either NW Ohio or SE Michigan every single year. Plymouth-Canton has been a finalist in this regional every year since 1990.
Although they were one of our big competitors back in my high school days, very good to see Jenison do so well.

The evening performance was far superior. (Night and day, as they say.) I wasn't that enthusiastic about Carroll after the early performance. I was really surprised how much different I felt about them after the evening show. I'd have been shocked had they not taken the #2 spot.

Honestly the quality on the field being put out is actually really impressive considering just 3 or 4 years ago. Visual staging and drill is still an issue but at least the sound is still there

Interesting tidbit with regard to scores - Homestead won every subcaption except MPI. Jenison was .3 ahead of Homestead and was only .05 behind in Music as a whole. Good for them! A couple bands at this regional definitely surprised me.

A couple bands at this regional definitely surprised me. Homestead has a lot of exposed moments in music, particularly the trumpets. I'm not surprised MPI got dinged a bit. We'll see if they can clean those things up.
