Here were my predictions from yesterday…after watching today I think that Bentonville is underplaced as well as well as the 6-9 ranking. This has been a much better Regional than I thought it was going to be. All of the bands have done a great job!
Prelims Winners A Sullivan (MO) AA Grain Valley (MO) AAA Blue Springs (MO) AAAA Broken Arrow (OK)
Finals 1. Broken Arrow (OK) 2. Blue Springs (MO) 3. Lake Travis (TX) 4. Mustang (OK) 5. O’Fallon Township (IL) 6. Grain Valley (MO) 7. L.D. Bell (TX) 8. Bentonville (AR) 9. Lincoln (SD) 10. Millard West (NE) 11. Blue Springs South (MO) 12. Lakota West (OH) 13. Nixa (MO) 14. Yukon Music - Broken Arrow Visual - Blue Springs GE - Broken Arrow

I'm super curious to see who makes Finals, of course, but REALLY interested in seeing who doesn't make the top half of Finals, and on the other end who grabs the last medal, from the grouping of Grain Valley/Bentonville/O'Fallon/Bell/Lake Travis/Mustang I thought all were pretty evenly matched, and each had various strengths and weaknesses.

So many good bands at this event. I just know so many hearts are going to be broken over judge discretion. Like, how do you rank these bands? I'd say the gap between Broken Arrow and the top-half-finalist tier bands is pretty big, then the gap between the top half finalists and bubble bands is pretty big, but within those groups, I don't know if I can even rank them coherently, other than Blue Springs most likely getting the silver. Either way, a lot of bands can break out in this event and it means a lot for a lot of up and coming bands. Here's hoping for an upset.

BA does not disappoint. Loved the soundscape, colors, vibe, it’s all working well. That last piece is so familiar I know someone else played but I cannot put my finger on who

Is the St. Louis SR being held earlier in the year than usual? I feel like overall all bands have been less clean than I would've expected (including Broken Arrow for that matter).
On the topic of BA, this year's show is definitely not hitting me the same way as last year's. I distinctly remember watching BA's 2021 show for the first time last year and knew it was head and shoulders above all the other bands'.

I do like their music selection though. They have a whole month or so till Nats. I feel like they are in a good spot.

BA seems a little behind where they usually are at this event. But plenty of time. They will peak at GN's.

Broken Arrow sounds fantastic as they always do. I do agree that this year isn't hitting me quite like some of their other shows, but they've got all the tools to make this another GNats winning show.

BA does not disappoint. Loved the soundscape, colors, vibe, it’s all working well. That last piece is so familiar I know someone else played but I cannot put my finger on who Bernard Herrmann - “Death Hunt” from “On Dangerous Ground”. I heard a lot of Herrmann and some good Bruckner in the music book. I’m happy! I too loved the aesthetic they’re bringing this season. They sound and look fantastic. The design is bold and aggressive. Almost a show I could imagine Vandegrift performing - or a Vandy’s excellent music and marching plus simplicity in theme meets Cartwright kinda vibe. I’m here for it. Well done, BA! Also, BA’s foray into WGI is paying off in spades. They’ve always sounded great, but adding in a clean, aggressive, super layered drum book below the winds is noticeable, and appreciated. Really cements their status as one of the top-playing groups in the country.

I agree that was a bit behind where BA tends to be at this time. Still great and their guard is SO GOOD!
I think they will peak to GN and clean up the dirt, but I thought Blue Springs was visually better and in many places sounded better. Totally different shows...even though I think there were some similarities in design and choreo in BA's show this year to BS 2021 show. Interested to see everyone's runs this evening and see how everything shakes out.
I am somewhat biased, but try to be objective in these things.
* Sidenote...Grain Valley's show is so good this year. Hope they can fix the couple of phasing issues they had. Glad they kept it together. This is their first dome show this season, so we can expect a cleaner run tonight.

I personally very enjoyed BA! I think it’s hard because they had such a groundbreaking year last year to not compare them. It’s just a different show. It would be insanely difficult to be BETTER than they were last year, especially with a director change. They are still playing and marching at such a high level! It’s not Edge of Eternity, no, but it’s a whole different creation! Proud of BA and very excited to see how it all stacks up!

As an Oklahomie, I am ECSTATIC! I feel bad for the bands who just missed, especially because I think that panels had a lot to do with some of that. Definitely not a perfect system by any means, but REALLY excited about Mustang getting 2nd in 4A! Bodes well for Grand Nats. Can’t wait to see how finals goes!

None of those bands that missed narrowly have anything to hang their heads about. It's always a gauntlet to get in to finals, and I sometimes wish we could take more than 14. But such is the nature of the activity. So many great performances this weekend!

Celebrating my AM Hernando! Unfortunately sitting by Lakota West kids in the stadium. Lots of sadness.

Nixa had some very dirty visual from the field and struggled with electronics issues. Still, I don’t agree with Lindbergh, Yukon and Hernando over Nixa, Lakota West, and Bentonville West. But that’s why I’m not a judge!
Lots of surprises. Congratulations to Lindbergh, Blue Springs South, Grain Valley, and Blue Springs for representing the state of Missouri!

Southmoore 3rd in AAA ahead of BSS and Lindbergh means they got at least 12th. Good for them!
