Very, very happy for Hernando. I enjoyed their show very much! Sorry Nixa didn’t get in finals. They have a beautiful show and I saw it live at Union.

Looks like Lake Travis got 5th in prelims, at best. I take that back… bottom half?? I don’t think any of us saw that coming — hopefully with their slot being so good they can break into top seven.

My guess as to how the bands placed in prelims:
1. BA 2. Blue Springs 3. Mustang 4. Bentonville 5. O'Fallon 6. L.D. Bell 7. Lincoln 8. Lake Travis 9. Grain Valley 10. Southmoore 11. Blue Springs South 12. Yukon 13. Hernando 14. Lindbergh

So top 3 in prelims was either BA or BS for 1 and 2 (probably in that order) and either Mustang or Lincoln in 3rd (I’m guessing probably Mustang 3rd, Bentonville 4th) so heck yeah!

Finals starts at 7 correct? Correct. Speaking of which, the St. Louis Finals thread is up. Please direct all your hullabaloos over there!

BA does not disappoint. Loved the soundscape, colors, vibe, it’s all working well. That last piece is so familiar I know someone else played but I cannot put my finger on who I went back and listened again today - "Death Hunt" from "On Dangerous Ground" is the bulk of their opener after the Bruckner intro hit(s). Their closer was bugging me as well until it rang a bell from Lake Central's "Phobias" show a million years ago when they were first rising in the BOA scene: it's the third movement of Alfred Reed's "Symphony for Brass & Percussion". I'm sure it's been done elsewhere but that's the group & show that came to mind.
