Wow, Blue Springs outright beat Broken Arrow for visual??? Totally deserved. Blue Springs looked amazing from the press box. I’m so glad they got their due here. The show is extremely special and will turn more heads next week!

On a side note, Lincolns placement probably bodes well for Rosemounts chances at GN this year. I was thinking the same thing. Next week's rankings should be interesting. Interesting thought. YIM does have a slightly different adjudication. I was at that show, and I have to admit that Lincoln's show there was a tad below compared to their run tonight. That said Rosemount's overall design and music definitely did feel better. I know its TOR year, but I do wish they went to a Regional or Super. I guess we all have to wait for another 3 weeks at GN.

Final thoughts:
1. Last year, BA scored a 92.650 (week six), while this year BA scored a 92.450 (week five). Is it safe to say BA is capable of improving by two-tenths of a point in one week? If so, how’s that set them up for Grand Nats? Could they possible break the record again? 2. Congrats Blue Springs on stealing a caption! Well deserved for sure, and at this rate I wouldn’t be surprised to see them exceed already high expectations in Indianapolis. 3. Bentonville & Lincoln better be in y’all’s GN finals way too early predictions next year. That’s all I’ll say about that. 4. O’Fallon also set themselves up for a great last month of the season tonight. Let’s all take a trip down memory lane and remember the last time O’Fallon broke 87 here… 5. Sad to see Mustang in 6th, but glad to see they were only beat by well-deserving, amazing bands. In the prelims thread, I said last week they would medal here — and they did (in prelims), so I guess I can count that as a win for the both of us. 6. I’m also sad to see Lake Travis so low, but from what I’ve heard it was primarily out of the students control (weak visual design). Hopefully that’s taken note of and they can bounce back in the future! 7. Justice for Lakota West (and Fayetteville for that matter)

Mustang's music score was a little iffy to me. To me they seemed to be 2nd loudest tonight while still maintaining outstanding clarity, only under BA/BS in most cases. I honestly think their uniforms hurt their visual clarity by a ton. Too much color made drill look like a mess and it didn't help that they were already pretty dirty.
Bentonville's show looked like a pain to march with how the drill falls but oh my lord they were clean. Best show of the night imo after BS and I wish they would've scored another .5 higher based off of how clean that finals run was

* I was much closer in my last prediction before awards than I thought I would be. I hope that this Super Regional sticks around and they can figure out the mess that this venue seems to be growing into (pun intended). When I originally looked at the lineup I thought it was going to be a light year, but so glad that these students made me eat that assumption. What a great show!
** I can't wait to see what BS does this week before Indy Super Regional. They are playing the best I have ever heard them and look even better.
*** Bentonville came out of nowhere tonight! I knew they were good, but WOW!
**** Very happy for Lincoln and the excitement for SD schools. This is truly becoming a regional competition and not just a showcase for great OK bands and TX bands getting away from San Antonio.
***** I think the GV show is something special for that group and can't help but think they could have bumped a spot or two if not for the bad draw and bottom 7 (they missed top 7 by .05 to Lincoln...wow!)
****** BSS is getting better and better and starting to make a move. Excited to have my daughter be a part of that program in the coming years.

Mustang’s visual scores were what pulled them down across the board. There was a bit more dirt in their drill compared to the other bands, and the high energy moments probably make it harder for them to individually be aligned with one another. Definitely something for them to work on before GNats, but I really think they can still make finals there.

Congratulations to Broken Arrow! This is their 19th BOA regional title. The last 16 have all been consecutive. They hold the record for most consecutive regional titles. They have won every BOA regional they have attended since 2007. They have also won every St Louis regional since 2007 except 2012 the year they did not attend.
Nice job Blue Springs, close to an upset. This is the eighth time they have been runner up at this regional.
Also a very big congrats to Bentonville and Lincoln for such a strong showing.

I will say Yukon still making finals even with a 1.5 point penalty is pretty crazy, even though they did get 13th the way they performed was really impressive (especially since it was there first time at any out of state competition), they can still clean up some visual things, but I’m really interested to see how the Oklahoma state championship goes for them!

The Yukon band has been through the wringer in the last 10 years. 2013ish the program lost a decent director. They typically made finals at state and placed somewhere in the middle to end of the pack. They got a new director, due to the previous director retiring, who completely destroyed the program within just a couple of years. They couldn’t even make finals at state, or even at easier local contests. Fall of 2020 he was basically forced to resign. There were tons of swirling rumors, but suffice it to say, he was not in a position to continue to lead the band. We had an assistant director step in to take the lead while they searched for a new director. Spring 21 we hired a great new director who made massive leaps forward in fall of 21. Our first local contest they tied for 3rd and those seniors were all sobbing, they had never even made finals in their entire high school marching careers, much less 3rd place. We had a very successful program last fall and finished 6th at state. Then our new director had a tragic loss of a loved one and she decided she couldn’t continue to work with our kids and left in June 2022. She did the leg work and sort of hand picked her successor and he chose to apply for the job and he was chosen by the district. He’s great and clearly doing great things with our program. My junior has had 4 band directors in her 3 years of high school! Now we as parents are just hoping he sticks around to give the kids some consistency from year to year. The fact that they did so well at this contest is absolutely amazing! We are so proud of them and grateful we have a great staff working with them.
