The most important VIP is in attendance today..... Buttercup. Really? I thought she only made an appearance at state finals?? The Indiana kids will be so excited! Speaking of Indiana bands, it's so good to see Hamilton Southeastern on the upswing again!

What happened was I received an old pic of Buttercup and assumed it was from today. Not in attendance, unfortunately. My apologies.

Wow, Edgewood was pretty impressive. Sax duo was very effective with the overall music rep. Where do they usually stand in terms of Indiana bands?

Not in attendance, unfortunately. My apologies. Sad react only lol. But I'll get to see Buttercup in two weeks at Indiana State Finals! Quick thought for Edgewood. Wow! Arguably the best I've ever seen them. If Compsuite is accurate for them in A, could run away with it. If AA, that may be good enough to medal. But lots of bands to go still! Edit for Ohbandi - They are generally a contender for the Class C title in Indiana (Indiana has 4 classes based on school size for Open Class with A being the largest schools) and they certainly feel like the front-runner this year. They last won state in 2018.

I was looking at my offline schedule and was confused why I wasn't watching Homestead, until I saw that there was yet another schedule change. This is where I need to give some major props to the event staff and volunteers. I can't even imagine having to manage an event of this magnitude with this much planning only to have to roll with so many changes from the existing schedule. Oh wow. What is going on? Floyd Central moved to Saturday because of school bus availability. Homestead and Decatur Central moved 15 minutes later. This was known several days ago. The other changes today were last minute (also due to bus availability).

And Lucas Oil Stadium claims it's first electronics victim... Ben Davis seems to be having electronics troubles. Is there something about the venue that leads to electronics issues: limited bandwidth or something like that? Or is that just a perception issue: so many bands perform there that the number of electronics issues is high even if the percentage is not. You'd think that the indoor venue would make electronics safer to use. I remember at DCI's Open Class Finals a few years ago, a thunderstorm came through just before the event was supposed to begin. It passed in an hour or so, but while the first group on the schedule had been able to get their equipment under the stands before the storm hit, the second group had been in transition from the warmup area to the stadium with no shelter close at hand, and everything was totally drenched. When it was their time to perform, they could not get the equipment to turn on. There were allowed an extra five minutes without penalty to try every possible means, to no avail, so they played without. However, I'm also thinking of something that was announced at the DCA championships this year. I wasn't listening closely, but the announcer said something about how fans shouldn't create virtual hotspots, as that risked interfering both with the corps and with the judges. Does anybody know more about how that might work?

Ditto! What class are they? I know in Indiana they're class B, but I'm not sure what that translate to for BOA? AA??

I know it's been a topic of conversation in the past, but I just feel the need to say it -- Westfield has no business competing in Scholastic Class in the state of Indiana. That performance would easily make state finals in Open Class A. It's time to move up and battle the big dogs!

Then of course we have Grain Valley and Camdenton tomorrow as well. As ilikeguard stated.... this AA class!

I have never been a fan of A Million Dreams on the field and can't say Noblesville made it work for me.

Why is it always a guessing game on what class each band is competing in at BOA?

As The World Caves In by Matt Maltese is definitely in the running for the most overplayed ballad of the season. I can’t blame anyone - it’s a pretty song! But I’ve been to four band contests this season and heard it at every one, and I don’t doubt I’ll hear it at San Antonio and GN too.

Tha cadets 2015 have returned!
Ya know for castle I really don’t think the show is necessarily doing them any favors but it isn’t holding them back either. *Cough 2018* Some of the drill is questionable in terms of spacing considering how big they are.
I think with the big freshman class individual visual isn’t probably as consistent as they’d like. But it is definitely better than early season. So they are improving.

Castle was fantastic! They've got some great brass players and a nice full sound to their ensemble moments. Visually there were some really difficult drill movements that I thought they pulled off pretty well. I'm still not entirely sure what the theme of the show is but I quite enjoyed it!

Nice show, Castle! Intellectually stimulating. Math, but make it emotional. Props for how they used the white front of the uniforms to spell numbers while others were turned around to create a black slate.

Were the big props for Castle supposed to light up? At one point, I saw one of them lit up, but the others didn't seem to work. I can imagine they might light up like digital numbers, since the theme is about counting?? Can someone who has seen the show before confirm?

But I've seen practice photos where they are lit so... <shrugs>.

May have been having problems today, so they will need them synching with the show next run-through.
