This William Mason show is so much better than the Top Gun show (which was still decent don't get me wrong) they had last year. I love the aesthetic they have going on with their uniforms. Makes it much easier to see the drill and individual players, both of whom looked very clean. They have some fantastic woodwinds and sound really good in the full ensemble moments. Great show!

Carmel’s visual was night and day from Prelims. You can tell they spent time on cleaning/hitting sets and movements today. Also, was it just me or did the tempo get bumped up in the first movement? It made it more exciting to listen to..at least for me. Overall a solid show that still has room to grow. Avon is always so good…have loved watching them for years. I just sometimes don’t love their music selections and themes. With that being said, they still perform at crazy levels (and the guard!!!!). Based on tonight’s performance, Carmel could possibly jump up.

My favorite William Mason show of all time. By a lot. And I've really enjoyed their shows in the past.

Blue Springs with one of the most gorgeous shows I've ever seen put on the field.

I’m gonna stick by my William Mason over Blue Springs comment, for the (small) lead I think BS has visually, WM has a slightly larger lead musically.
Both are absolutely stunning shows though

Blue Springs individual marching from player to player is unbelievable I don’t really get the chills from most visual work, super excited or anything of the sort, but I can still admire the attention to detail at least haha uniformity of movement, intent, and execution is always what any group should strive for!

Blue Springs wasn't doing it for me at St. Louis, but I'm feeling this show a lot more after tonight. Really gorgeous soloists in the beginning and at the end, and their visual technique is some of the best I've seen. Excellent show from them and one I really wish they would have taken to Grand Nationals. These last four bands have all been incredible, but if I were to rank them I would have to say:
Carmel Avon William Mason Blue Springs
Though I think the gap between all of them is super small and I expect captions to be split.

Loved BS, but I don’t think it vaults them above Avon or Carmel. WM and BS will battle it out for visual IMO.
Top 4 so far

Holy Crap. I saw Brownsburg not too many years ago, and wow, they are huge. The enormous props help fill the field 😜

This Brownsburg show is just too busy for me. The skirts make the feet look messy and the props everywhere really take away from the movement of the band. And I'm not sure I've seen them move and play at the same time yet. Take away about half of the props and it might open up the field a bit.

Brownsburg has so much potential. With a few weeks of cleaning, this could really be something totally fun.

Blue Springs is SO clean visually it is almost unreal! One of those "these are high school kids" moments. I really don't know where they might land from 1st to 4th. Brownsburg has such an interesting show. I had parts of this one stuck in my head following prelims. Still room to grow for sure, and it'll be neat to see how this changes between now and GN.

While I’m not a huge fan of the huge props, I really do like this Brownsburg show. I have a special place in my heart for them and hope they can be our bronze medal band from Indiana at ISSMA!

People talk about the ascension of Fishers, and rightfully so, but Brownsburg is pretty darn good too and on the rise.

The scores between these top 4 bands better be razor close! Like in the history of BOA scores ever Or I will boycott MFA!
See if I buy any memorabilia in San Antonio! 🤠
1-3Carmel 1-3 Avon 1-3 William Mason (They deserve Music imo) Blue Springs

Fishers to round off finals! I really like the aesthetic of this show. Really quite beautiful, and unlike Brownsburg, I see this as a GN Finals lock.
My final predictions* (*using the term "predictions" lightly because I do not think this is what is going to happen...this is more what I want to happen/what I think should happen)
1. William Mason (they've made a fan out of me...I'll probably put them falsely high in my Grand Nats predictions too) 2. Avon 3. Blue Springs 4. Carmel (this feels like a crime because they were incredible) 5. Fishers 6. Jenks 7. Lafayette 8. Brownsburg (I know this is a minority opinion, but they just seem dirty to me) 9. Castle 10. Grain Valley 11. Goshen 12. Lincoln-Way 13. Union 14. Centerville
Music: WM Visual: BS (if they don't get visual, I quit) GE: Avon

Carmel (Music) 3. Mason 4. Blue Springs (Visual) Should he super tight though. I think Blue Springs was the best visually but musically I felt the other three groups were just on another level tonight.

Fishers comfortably in 5th for me, the end of their ballad and closer you can see they’re losing some steam but by GN they’ll be fine. I can’t see any way that they’re out of GN finals at this point (HERES TO HOPING)

It’s insane how competitive this SR has been. The entire top half and a few from the bottom half are all GN finalist-caliber bands. We haven’t seen Indianapolis this competitive in years.

Unfortunately I missed the large majority of this competition. I started tuning in during the middle of Mason's show, so i'll just add some of my comments:
William Mason - wow, what a giant difference in the change of uniform. I'm glad this show seems to have its own identity, rather than being a "Broken Arrow 2.0" show. Curious to see the beginning of the show that I missed, and whatever rest of the show they still have to tag on.
Blue Springs - The pace of this show is still a bit weird to me. I love the music in the closer; definitely very emotional.
Brownsburg - It's a solid show design, but I realized that i am definitely getting a little tired of the same music rep being used by every group. Similarly to previous years, I think they need to work on an more blended ensemble sound in terms of tone and also intonation.
Fishers - definitely impressed me and even more so than last year. I think they made some improvements in ensemble sound compared to last year, and this could maybe make GN Finals. Solidly designed show.
