That Woodlands color guard!! They stole the show! I’ve never seen guard so tight and precise. Masterclass in guard.

I know you’re just here to stir up trouble, so I’ll just respond to this once. I’m making a sarcastic little quip about how competitive this event is. These bands are also much further along in the season than any band was at St. Louis, which is the main reason why they’re performing at a higher level. It’s almost a month’s difference. I’d argue that any of the top 30 at Indianapolis were finals caliber as well. It’s just so incredibly close here. I’ll be the first person to say that Texas isn’t the standard in many ways. I’m ilikeguard, after all! In that realm, it’s generally agreed upon that Indiana is the standard, just like how Texas is for music. And since you mentioned that I work for GEM, you’ll be thrilled to know that they’ve sent me to contests in Iowa, Oklahoma, Missouri, Indiana, AND Texas this year, and I can tell you that there are huge fanbases in all of those states cheering for the nation’s greatest bands. I don’t know where you’re from, but I’m from Missouri, and if you’d like to accuse me of being biased towards any state, choose that one instead. 😙 “Standards@. Guards? All states listed have amazing guards! from my POV it seems both of these post are attempting to rob the dignity and honest exceptionalism that has happened in SA Prelims 2022. Makes me both and sad and validated! This has been the most competitive group of programs that BOA will field this year bar none! Maybe I missed something? Indiana had more SW guards in WGI finals than any other state, so it’s a pretty fair statement to make. Though The Woodlands did get third 😉 I’ll give a shoutout to Florida guards as well. Indiana had 6 guards in finals and Florida had 4, meaning the two states comprised over half of the 16 finalists.

Here are my predictions, this finals cut is insane. literally 30+ bands or so that could’ve made St. louis or Indy finals imo. AAAA 1. Hebron (M,V,GE) 2. Flower Mound 3. Vandegrift AAA 1. Cedar Park (M,V,GE) 2. Rouse 3. Leander Not sure on what bands even are AA or A but I did my best to find out AA 1. Argyle (M,V,GE) 2. Rip Grande City 3. Hidalgo A. 1. Pecos (M,V) 2. Whitesboro (GE) 3. ?? Then my top 14: 1. Hebron 2. Flower Mound 3. Vandegrift 4. Cedar Ridge 5. Claudia Taylor Johnson 6. Marcus 7. The Woodlands 8. Vista Ridge 9. Ronald Reagan 10. Cedar Park 11. Westlake 12. Coppell 13. Round Rock 14. Cypress Woods I’m sure this will be completely wrong in 45 minutes, but hey that’s why i’m not a judge and just here doing this for fun

Phew, a very long Prelims for sure and so many talented, Finals-deserving bands performed! Unfortunately there are only 14 spots, so here are my fearless (and likely incorrect) predictions. Feel free to disagree I will be missing the entirety of Finals tonight, so very interested to see how these turn out later. 1) Hebron (Music, GE) 2) Flower Mound (Visual) 3) Vandegrift 4) Ronald Reagan 5) Cedar Ridge 6) Marcus 7) Cedar Park 8) Claudia Taylor Johnson 9) Coppell 10) The Woodlands 11) Round Rock 12) Pearland 13) Cypress Woods 14) Westwood -------------------- 15) Vista Ridge 16) Westlake 17) Rouse 18) Timber Creek 19) Cy-Fair 20) Leander

My own finalist predictions after prelims:
1. Hebron 2. Vandegrift 3. Ronald Reagan 4. Claudia Taylor Johnson 5. Flower Mound 6. Vista Ridge 7. Cedar Ridge 8. Marcus 9. Coppell 10. Cedar Park 11. The Woodlands 12. Pearland 13. Round Rock 14. Westlake
There are about 10-15 other bands I could see getting into the bottom few spots, so I'm not surprised if this is totally wrong

You may be correct as this is not my wheel house but I’ll still take a predominant expressionist dance based -classically trained “Vision Dance” type team all day. Two different skill sets IMO. But who am I? Ronald Reagan. 😷. Brilliant

Hebron already sweeping. A little surprised they took Visual, but I guess this puts them in a great spot for grabbing the gold again.

Biggest surprise from prelims results is the Woodlands in third for class 4A! That is huge for them beating out Vandegrift, Flower Mound, CTJ, Cedar Ridge, and Vista Ridge! Finalists were about as predicted, though Keller might be a surprise to some. Considering they haven't missed finals here since 2014 though, I'm not too surprised to see them in.
