The milestone had actually passed on 10/29 (aptly the New Jersey Finals schedule), but it's only been now since we're able to celebrate this. Not to mention right before Grand Nationals, too!
Hornrank welcomes the newest poster to the 1000 Post Club- bigtrombone !
bigtrombone marched at Lincoln High School, continuing to keep band in the family 3 years after his big brother had marched. While the band world to him was limited to the Upper Midwest, bigtrombone 's spark of inspiration came when his band director exhibited The Woodlands's 2013 Grand National championship show, "Crossing Boundaries". The love would only grow after attending the St. Louis Super Regional during his junior year.
After performing in the low brass all four years, bigtrombone moved onto the Sound of University of South Dakota Marching Band along with marching with the River City Rhythm D&BC in 2019, which he had served as the trombone section leader and aged out on the baritone, respectively. In fact, he just very recently graduated this past spring from University of South Dakota with a Bachelor of Music Education degree. (Congratulations!)
Some fun facts:
-bigtrombone gets his name from bass and contrabrass trombones, which he greatly prefers over the typical trombone.
-He marched in the Tournament of Roses parade in 2013.
-He was a part of the first Lincoln band to make St. Louis Super Regional finals in 2015, which he was able to meet with Broken Arrow, Bentonville, and Haltom.
-He was a field liner for RCR.
-Lastly, he was a part of the old BOA forums before it was shut down.
bigtrombone is seen often typically typing out and preparing the event threads unassisted by moderators, in which the mods are appreciative of. In addition, his background fills in a specific niche of region that is often overlooked in this activity, the Upper Midwest.
Once again, congratulations to bigtrombone !
