From time to time, my friends and I like to spontaneously play a little game where we create the "perfect band" using specific sections from each ensemble that we like the best and then theoretically combining them. Now that the marching season is all but over, I wanted to extend an invitation to the people of the forum to play along. The rules are simple (and flexible): choose a band or two to represent each aspect or piece of the ensemble as part of your ideal program. Be as vague as "hornline" or as specific as "piccolos". For a challenge, limit the criteria to one class, state, designer, etc.
For example, here's what I chose to make up my ideal AA band (excluding Tarpon Springs for difficulty):
Hornline: Morton, IL and Argyle, TX Percussion: Dartmouth, MA Movement: Grain Valley, MO Guard: Miamisburg, OH and Kiski Area, PA Show design: Camdenton, MO and Jasper, IN Overall approach to the activity: Norwin, PA
You don't have to use the same categories I did - the point is to use your imagination, and give a little insight into the things you value when thinking about the ideal group. It's kind of like the superlatives game, if the superlatives game and fantasy football had a baby. Have fun crafting!

Gonna build myself a nice lil brass section: - Trumpets: Hebron (AKA the Blue Devils -- go listen to their mvt 2 trumpet feature from this year.)
- Mellophones: Flower Mound (Box drills while playing 16th notes at 180 bpm every year will never get old to me.)
- Trombones: Marcus
- Euphoniums/Baritones: Broken Arrow
- Tubas/Sousaphones/Contras/The big ones: Carmel
Interesting that 3/5 of my section comes from one school district. And if I'm being honest I could really just put Hebron for every category and be pretty happy.
