They should really consider staggering start times between comps. If one is at 00 15 30 45 another other should be 05 20 35 50 No. My OCD self would never be able to deal with this. The shortened Texas shows are bad enough…

My opinion Sparkman had a better run in prelims. Which is a shame.

Haha was just thinking it would be nice to catch the tail end or beginning of another band at another show rather than sitting through a break. I can see how it would be annoying though

Having only gotten one read on each of these bands from moving over from Obetz Prelims to here, you'll understand if some of my Finals rankings may be a little wonky. But then why am I apologizing? These are just for fun and don't mean anything anyway! Still fun to share though. Finals Rankings: 1. Franklin 2. Cass 3. North 4. Siegel 5. Munford 6. Sparkman 7. Mill Creek 8. Russell County 9. Dorman 10. Jefferson 11. Hardin Valley Academy 12. Buford

I was trying very hard not to let bias show in my rankings as I kept wanting to put North higher but dang, it feels good they pulled this one out tonight because they were on fire in my opinion. Great job tonight and enjoy your well deserved victory!

Well that's a shocker. North was 31st in prelims at Indy SR last year.

Well that's a shocker. North was 31st in prelims at Indy SR last year. and the year before that they were 17th in Indy SR with that FLAMEingo show so I'm not surprise they won I even put them in the top 2 because I just knew they would be great early season here.

Good job North. They are really built to be a BOA band more than an ISSMA band. Their music typically isn’t quite strong enough to overcome some other groups in ISSMA sheets but they usually have a strong visual and VGE game.
They are also stronger early season as opposed to late. The shows sometimes don’t have the legs to make the year end push.

Well that's a shocker. North was 31st in prelims at Indy SR last year. I blame myself for that, partially. I was the trombone & euph soloist last year, and made a grave mistake of leaving the mouthpiece on the wrong instrument to start the show lol. I’m sure you can find a recording of it somewhere out there. Not so fun day of, but hey I can laugh about it now. I’m graduated. Also, go north!

My Prediction preshow: Im kinda happy with it I got my top 3 correct Franklin, North, and Cass
I guessed these 3 placements correctly. 3. Cass, GA 5. Munford, TN 10. Buford, GA
I got 2 bands wrong for finals: - Pelham, AL (Jefferson, GA) - Cascade, TN (Mill Creek, GA)
I was -1 away from guessing Siegel, TN correct. Shoot! Still a win for me.

Finals Cutoff:
12. Hardin Valley Academy, TN 64.300 ----------------------------------- (First Cutoff) 13. Dorman H.S., SC 63.800 --------------------------------(Second Cutoff) 14. Pelham H.S., AL 63.200 15. Bearden H.S., TN 62.950
You may be asking, "Why is there two cutoffs?" Well, Chattahoochee H.S., GA finished 10th in prelims and would've been in finals, but for reasons unknown to me, they were unable to participate in finals. Dorman, who would've missed had Chattahoochee been able to stay, would've been out.
Also Evansville North was 4th in prelims behind Franklin, Cass, & Sparkman.

I was correct about Sparkman's finals it wasn't their best, but Sparkman was a monster coming in prelims their opener made me feel dirty in a good way. They're going to be a huge threat when BOA Troy comes around.

Chattahoochee did prelims here and then drove back down to Atlanta for fulton county exhibition the same night so they couldn’t do finals

I believe, and I could be wrong, but Sparkman made history on the highest placement for any Alabama band at a Regional. (4th place)

Whew..... That was a truly busy day 😵💫. All week long trudging through a minor runny nose and stuffy throat put attending this regional in doubt, but the symptoms thankfully cleared up enough the day before.
Chattanooga could've gone very wrong as a brand-new regional site. Iron-Man triathlon in the morning, a popular skate park nearby, a street used for bus and catering traffic, only one road into one of the field gates... The whole site had fairly wonky dedicated area placements. It was a sight to behold.
But... It did work. I've heard from some programs how many enjoyed the short walks into the stadium and how transitioning to their next area went smoothly (surprisingly!). I know many students definitely enjoyed the pavilion area just right across the stadium to prepare and relax a bit during the competition. THAT was a sight to behold. (Directors, please leave your comments about the venue in the director's survey being sent out soon- us staff are thankful for the comments but it means nothing when the event coordinator doesn't hear it directly!)
Thanks to all the early day bands for being understanding of the venue kinks early on band and worked with the staff. In addition, thank you the evening bands for helping manage the chaos once some of the route options became unavailable.
Congrats to Ev. North for bringing one home for the Hoosiers!!! (Over some major names too!) North was not sniffing even semi-state when I was marching. To go from that to a BOA regional champion... Holy smokes!

(4th place) Without digging through all of the results pages, I think you may be right. I've only seen Foley in 1989 (Hattiesburg, MS) and Hoover in 2021 (Clarksville) both in 5th place. So Big things for Sparkman they could even break that record in BOA Troy Regional.

Congrats to Evansville North!! How often is it that AA bands win BOA regional events? Tarpon wins quite often as do Marian Catholic, Kiski and Norwin in the northeast. Helps when there aren’t many 4A bands in attendance. This was a good field, but not a great field.
