Has anyone seen Independence yet? I was really impressed with them last year Cool! They're very good once again. I think the Green Level, Independence, and James Madison group is good competitive mix. I will say the Green Level guard was very impressive last week, one of the best i've ever seen from a Cary band. It is a nice show. Really not sure how to call it between these 3 groups. The Independence ballad is great. I'm sure JP Stevens will have something to say too

I hear that 2012 crown Mello run Must be a Klesch arrangement — that is a trademark of his.

Trumbull, please please please don't use that tarp you're rolling out. The wind is way too heavy and they're having such a hard time getting it flat. I'm a bit concerned for the performers right now...

I'm a bit concerned for the performers right now... Why? Why do directors insist on doing shows with tarps? They are a menace. It never works out. The only somewhat successful tarp that I think was worth the trouble and had a point was O'Fallon that year they made the whole field white with no hash marks. Crazy risky, though.

In domes I think they're generally fine, but the adults on the field should know better than the situation I just saw unfold in a windy outdoor venue. At worst, it is an actual safety concern (several members already falling or stumbling), and at best it prevents the performers from focusing on their performance out of concerns for their safety (as shown by members quite literally turning and LEAPING over the balled up tarp on the field to get to their dots).

Trumbull bringing out some anxiety I never have to begin with lol aside from a couple tumbles, they at least kept it together. Staff should learn to make an executive decision to pull props/tarps off sides in windy situations like that to avoid injury.

Parents mean well, but sometimes they don't have the most common sense. Not that they could overrule the directors, anyway. If they say the tarp goes out, the tarp goes out. Tarps are a menace in domes, too. I remember one year Carmel had a bunch of circular tarps on the field (compasses maybe? ), and I had a low seat for GN finals right in front of a smallish tarp with a fold in it. Saw three Carmel brass players go down right in front of me within like 3 minutes. I am solidly anti tarp.

Switched back after a couple hours to see Green Level. So I guess wind has been a bully all day, it seems… yup. 16 MPH winds. JPS kids holding a prop fell over with the prop, Trumbull guard engulf by tarps, and James Madison panels knocking over everywhere. No way Thomas S. Wootton doesn't make finals. AMAZING!

I really liked independence. I think kiski should watch out They really are developing into such a strong program in just a few years' time. Just noticed that their school only opened in 2019, so for them to come out of the pandemic this strong as a new school is so promising.

Yeah I competed agaisnt them in 2019, they were good, but understandably small, and then 2021 starts and they were 3 times as large and kicking ass.

I like kiski. The sound they create with their members is something pretty crazy. Show itself doesn’t do much for me but maybe live it’s better

Wow the first band to perform got somewhere around 2-5 place. Good job Woodson! This was their First appearence in BOA since the 90s and quite honestly, I loved them last year and still had them outside my top 10 for the state, this year they have taken a whole nother step though
