At least most of these directionals match how their district is split up.
Lakota East and Lakota West actually have an almost-pure North/South split (Liberty Township and West Chester, respectfully)

Has anyone else seen Blue Valley Southwest's or Camdenton's show yet? I have yet to see Camdenton's show, but I found a recording of Southwest. They are trying a lot of new things this year. They have a very interesting show, full of little details that just make it better. Southwest's show is probably on of the most visually appealing shows they have ever done. And to add on to that, the musical phrases really sell the show. That horn line is no joke this year. They can push some air! They are also pretty clean for being an early season show. Southwest still has this whole week to add and make changes to their show, so I could only imagine what else they will add or remove to make it better. Im going to keep an eye out for a recording of Camdenton's show. It is pretty clear Southwest want that finals position, but I'm sure other do as well. If Southwest has a good run, they'll get up into finals.

I think the AAA battle is going to be closer than people think. While I can't speak for Blue Springs South as I haven't seen them yet (though they should easily be in finals), I was able to see both Rosemount and Lincoln in Marshall, MN last night. Lincoln's show this year is, once again, very heavy on GE and it showed with them topping Rosemount in Outstanding General Effect for the second year in a row at this competition. Rosemount took the victory with a really strong musical and visual run. I don't know how much they beat Lincoln by as they don't announce the scores for this event. I should note that Rosemount, as of yesterday, does not have their full show on the field and I don't know if they'll have the full show ready for Cedar Falls, though they do have enough that they should be able to avoid a penalty. As for Rosemount's show itself it is very interesting. Their show this year is a Wes Cartwright show but they don't have any props at all, though the drill formations are very reminsicent of past Cartwright shows I've seen. And I will say that the show that they do have on the field is incredibly clean.
If anyone has seen Blue Springs South's show yet, let me know how they are in comparison to the last 2 years. Even though the AA battle is going to be one to watch next weekend, Class AAA might have some interesting results as well.

I agree, Class AA is the one that going to be the most interesting one to watch. It's really between Blue Valley Southwest, Camdenton, and Greendale. Out of the three, Southwest probably has the best show both musically and visually. I personally feel like Southwest and Camdenton will make finals. They are two very fine bands! Greendale's show just isn't as polished as the rest in my opinion... But there is still a week to go, so who knows. Updated Finals Predictions (Alphabetically): Blue Springs H.S., MO* Blue Springs South H.S., MO* Blue Valley Southwest H.S., KS Camdenton H.S., MO Lincoln H.S., SD Lockport Township H.S., IL Marian Catholic H.S., IL Morton H.S., IL O’Fallon Township H.S. Rosemount H.S., MN

Slightly updated finalist predictions... going to try to rank them this time 😬😬
1. Blue Springs H.S., MO 2. O’Fallon Township H.S., IL 3. Rosemount H.S., MN 4. Lincoln H.S., SD 5. Morton H.S., IL 6. Lockport Township H.S., IL 7. Marian Catholic H.S., IL 8. Blue Springs South H.S., MO 9. Blue Valley Southwest H.S., KS 10. Camdenton H.S., MO
That 10th spot could go to Greendale, but they’d need to have a more polished run than what I’ve seen from them recently. 4-8 could really go any which way, though I think Lincoln has the edge in that group.

But one thing that just I just saw is that they won their last competition with a 2.5 point difference against Bellville East. Now, Belleville East isn't the best band to compare them with as they received 38th place at BOA St. Louis Last year. But from what I heard from people at the competition, Camdenton is doing pretty good. So I still think Blue Valley Southwest and Camdenton will make finals. Southwest hasn't had a competition yet, so we really have nothing to compare them against. But like I've said, Southwest relly has a lot of stuff going for them.

Camdenton beat East by .85 in prelims and 1.5 in finals on a weird hybrid scoring system that included percussion and auxiliary as 20% of the score. No individual judges, and music effect and ensemble was multiplied by 1.25 to get the score for that particular caption. Fun fact: Camdenton was not the grand champion of this show, because they did not compete in the parade aspect. As a matter of fact, no bands who made finals save for Fort Zumwalt West did. They finished 7th in finals. I feel for bands that one week are on BOA sheets (and judged on school size), another week judged on some other system (and on band size), and a third week, judged on some weird band/school size hybrid that make no sense to anyone anywhere. That's a topic for another day.

Happened upon a video of Camdenton from this past weekend, albeit from a bad angle on the track. It’s an intriguing show concept, and I think they could be in the finals conversation, but their ballad and closer are a little rough still. Of course, they will have had a whole week to improve before this weekend. AA is going to be really interesting! Not only are 5 groups contending for class medals, but finalist placements, as well.

This is going to be an awesome show with a great group of bands! I could see Rosemount climbing to 2nd and Camdenton will probably be in finals if I had to guess - they’re quite a good band.

First post!
I have been a lurker here and I finally decided to join. I live in the western suburbs of Chicago and follow Illinois bands. So far, I have seen Greendale, WI and Lockport Township at Lake Park, and Marian Catholic at Naperville Central.
Quick comment about the BOA Iowa competition. All four Grand Nationals semi-finalists from Illinois from last year are competing in this Regional. For the Illinois bands, I am going with the following order in placement: O’Fallon, Lockport Township, Morton, and Marian Catholic.
I have not seen O’Fallon live or a video of their performance for 2019, but I believe they will finish the highest of the group. Lockport Township scored higher than O’Fallon at ISU and Grand Nationals in the preliminary performances last year, but without performing their entire show I think Lockport Township will finish behind O’Fallon.
Lockport Township’s show has featured a more challenging music and visual routine in the past couple of years. Their show is nicely balanced between brass and woodwinds, almost sounding like a wind symphony on the field. For these reasons, I place Lockport Township over Morton.
I have no new revelations concerning Marian Catholic. At Naperville Central they performed approximately half their show with no props. But I have seen in person how much Marian Catholic improves in one week. I’m sure they will perform enough of their show to get into finals.
Greendale, WI performs at a couple of Chicago area competitions each year. The theme of their show will be one of the crowd favorites. I believe they will clean up their show and make finals.
My predictions:
1. Blue Springs, MO 2. Rosemount, MN 3. O'Fallon Township, IL 4. Lincoln, SD 5. Lockport Township, IL 6. Morton, IL 7. Blue Springs South, MO 8. Marian Catholic, IL 9. Camdenton, MO 10. Greendale, WI

I wouldn't say the show is as extravagant as last year's (for better and worse), but I think they're executing at a slightly higher level than they were. The show is very... boxy.

Wow the echo is super rough... is this dome fully enclosed? I could just look it up but I’m sure someone here knows. Hopefully the echo isn’t as bad live. I thought blue springs was good!! They had some holes in their brass line but it was typical Lindsey Vento stuff. Doesn’t feel like it has all been completely ironed out design wise

I thought Camdenton’s visual aesthetic was absolutely breathtaking. And the alto sax soloist was FANTASTIC.
