Morton has a new director. His name is Tim Gray. He's been in instrumental music for 35 years, and was recognized by ESPN as one of the top ten moments in sports for his design of the Iowa Hawkeye Marching Band’s 2017 “Wave” field show.

Catawba Ridge (Fort Mill SC) - 1st Director, Martin Dickey. Has been director at all FM high schools and has been working for the district since 1994. He will begin the program and I believe has plans to retire the following year.
Nation Ford - New Director, Ray Linkous. Ray has been involved with the Nation Ford band since the schools inception back in 2007, becoming assistant director in 2008. Ray has been the associate brass caption head for Carolina Crown since 2005.
Fort Mill - The Fort Mill program suffered a tragedy when their long time director (since 07) suffered a stroke over a year ago and was forced to retire. There will be a new director this year announced soon and I believe I know who it will be, but I’m not saying until it’s official!
Dobyns-Bennett TN - David Whaley will be leaving the percussion director spot open here. Unknown who will fill it at this time.

Green Hope has hired the director from Sanderson, Creighton Flowers. Sanderson does amazing work and works with many of the same design team so this should be a strong hire and the standards of the band should remain high.

Interesting change of directors here in Indiana- Andrew Muth is leaving Lewis Cass to join Westfield. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Northview posted their head director job recently so Miller has moved on. I know Noblesville has been trying to lock down a new assistant director to bolster their staff as they jump to Open. Heard lots of strong names being tossed about, but I know one of their top targets turned them down.

Cool that she did her college years and first year of teaching in Texas! And impressive that she’s been chosen to be the AD at Marian Catholic so young!

And impressive that she’s been chosen to be the AD at Marian Catholic so young! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Easier to insure conformity and continuity of methods and thought when you bring in a young person who grew up in a program. There are some incredibly experienced MC alumni out there, but they may have been away from the fold for too long...

Would think Bimm retiring will happen sooner rather than later. Every year there is speculation to whether it is the year he's going to hang it up. Similar to the last..oh..10 years of Alfred Watkins' tenure at Lassiter. Who knows though, maybe Bimm will hang around as long as his health allows him to.
I could see next year being his last year though. A year to get Ms. Chmura situated, and if she's not ready to take over then a great candidate could be Bobby Lambert. As a former MC assistant he knows the program well and the timing could be good with Wando's split starting in the 2020-2021 school year.

Bumping this back up, because I can. Marian Catholic Assistant Director is open. In addition, John Hersey in IL has hired a new director to replace Scott Casagrande, who has retired. Scott is the coordinator of the MFA National Festival. He will be replaced at Hersey by Spencer Hile, who was director of bands at McHenry High School (IL).

A couple of interesting band director hires...
David Aydelott is now the band director at Siegel (TN). He left the same position at Franklin (TN) a couple years ago to take an administrative position, but has decided to reenter the classroom. He obviously did fantastic things at Franklin and I am sure will do great things at an already established program.
Eric Hale, most notably the former director at Bourbon County (KY), is now the director at Nicholas Co. While that most likely won’t cause any ripples on the BOA scene, it is interesting because that was Mr. Hale’s first teaching position years ago. It’s safe to assume he will have them in contention in Kentucky’s small school division.

Cedar Ridge had their head director, John Peterson retire from the position recently to spend more time with his family.
New head director for the program is Dan Musacchio, former CTJ assistant director.

Will be a loss perhaps for Ardrey Kell but they seem to have really gathered their own momentum and I think will have continued success.
