Sounds crazy but I think Centerville has my favorite show this year out of everyone. I love the music selections so much and the whole show just works for me. Not to mention they look and sound great. I know i'm dreaming but I would love to see this in finals.

Glad that people have good things to say about the CJB! I'm not able to watch because I have class, but as a Centerville alum and the older sibling to someone in that band marching their first ever Grand Nats performance, these comments are heartening.

As a Texas fan can someone explain the BOA multi - city or county accepted (A,AA, AAA and AAAA) marching band scope? More specifically the Township and County and private school situations. Are these programs likened to Tarponâs county charter set up? Specifically do they choose one school and filter music talents there? Do the students primarily rehearse in their primary high schools but host marching practice at one logistically? I asked this same question many years ago and got many competing answers. Looking for clarification. Thanks Technically, provided you are in the same school district, you can combine together as many schools as you want to. as far as magnet schools, im not aware of many others who compete on a high level, some schools from open enrollment districts kind of get that effect such as Fishers, where you can go to Fishers or Hamilton Southeastern, and some music talent choose to go to fishers because they have the stronger music department, though Hamilton Southeastern is strong in their own right. In comparison you have stuff like Lincoln-Way or PCEP, where its multiple high schools who are very close together comepting as one group. Most of the such and such county schools are the only school in the county, so they are named as such.

Looking for clarification. Thanks Tarpon is it's own beast so I will let someone else that knows more about it take it. But if you're asking about bands like Estill County and O'Fallon Township - it's usually that there's just one public high school in the county or township so there isn't any funneling going on. Using Estill as an example, there's only about 14,000 people total in the entire county and there's just one high school. Those are different scenarios than creating "community" bands like Lincoln-Way and Normal in Illinois. Schools are still separate and each have their own students and directors but combine to form one competitive marching band with students from all schools. For the most part, it's still always one school = one band, but just the scale of people in an area is much different than many of the ISDs in Texas, but there are some anomalies that each have their own specific situation and story for how they ended up that way - like Lincoln-Way, Lawrence Township, Tarpon, etc.

If I had a nickel for every time a band wore pink plumes at 2023 Grand Nationals, I would have two nickels.

Do the students primarily rehearse in their primary high schools but host marching practice at another for logistics? I asked this same question many years ago and got many competing answers. Looking for clarification. Thanks In Michigan, many schools have started combining competitive band programs due to declining enrollment. Typically, there are several high schools in a Michigan school district, which leads to smaller enrollment at each school, even in large school districts. For example, the PCEP school district has Plymouth High School, Salem High School, and Canton High School. Combined, the school district has over 5,000 high schoolers, but each high school has <2,000 students. This is in contrast with districts that only have a single high school (like Rockford, Carmel or The Woodlands). While each individual schoolâs circumstances vary, many programs have combined for financial reasons. I surmise that is why Walled Lake is making its first trip to Nationals after a several year hiatus. Students typically rehearse at one of the high schools and, depending on the program, may be directed by one or more of the high schoolâs band directors. At least for the public schools, there are no âmagnetâ programs. Occasionally, students may choose to go to a different school because they have a better music program, but that is exceptionally rare.

Block 2 rankings 1.) Brownsburg(They're a finals lock to me, they sound and look amazing) 2.) Centerville(top 20, I love this show) 3.) Homestead(top 20, very happy they did as well as they did today) 4.) Rockford(Semifinals bubble, likely in(it seems most others have them as semis lock, so i'm probably stupid.)) 5.) Chattahoochee(Semifinals bubble, would say lock if they were cleaner, but they tore the stadium down with that run.) 6.) Estill County(Possible A rep(the contenders will be extremely close here.) 7.) Beechwood(Possible A rep. I find it hard to see this show out, but it's a bloodbath.) 8.) Archbishop Carroll(Outside chance at Class A rep, not likely but they were amazing) 9.) Woodford(I loved this show) 10.) Monrovia(I hate putting them this low, they were really good.) 11.) East Clinton(This band would be competitive in small divisions throughout most of the country, they're very good for their size.) 12.) Tri-Valley(Good show, great music choices) I missed Southwestern
