I updated with SO scores So, cybrunette ... thank you for all of your hard work maintaining all of the WGI finals boards. You are a force of nature! Haha thanks! Happy to see there's more life in here. Love reading what everyone has to say!

That mouthpiece buzz feature in Miamisburg’s show might just be the Winds moment of the year for me.

Watching finals today, the focus for show design this year for most groups seems to be to try to be as esoteric as possible. 😑

Avon still out here doing it like no one else. That was AMAZING. The GE is just off the charts.

I really don’t pay attention to the winds stuff, but since Catawba Ridge is part of the home team I watched their prelims perf on YT.
I really liked the show and thought the raw talent was def there. But, I think their placement probably makes sense given a few ticks I saw. It just wasn’t completely locked in from an energy pov maybe either (although that’s perhaps an easy fix). I haven’t seen any other performances, but I’d gather they’re probably one the bigger groups?

As far as group sizes, SO & SW groups are all roughly similar in size aside from Avon... Avon is huge lol

I thought they were much stronger today vs. yesterday. But I definitely respect all opinions. The top WSO groups are pretty equal, with different strengths. CR seemed to have some extra juice today. They had me the whole show.

LH up to 5th.
And with that comes the end of competitive band for my son. I'm a little emotional right now. Third child doesn't start band until fall 2026 and marching in HS band until 2029 [ she's finishing grade 3], so it's going to be a hard switch for awhile.
I just want to say how much I've appreciated our band program for the past 8 years between my older two. My older daughter and my son both learned a lot that wasn't music or guard -- especially the leadership roles they took on without question or prompting and solos in front of however many people were in the stands at BOA semis in Indy without flinching. I am beyond grateful to the staff. I am also thankful for the band community in general. Thank you all....

The tight race between three fantastic groups for the medal positions in Scholastic Open was a fun one to watch. I'll be curious to see if Catawba Ridge follows their pattern of only doing Winds every other year or if they'll be back.

I feel like that gives the program a good balance and makes it seem special since it is such an extra sort of thing.
