How is this a 'world championship'? Just wondering. It's a circuit that's open to any group from any country in the world that wants to compete. Aimachi from Japan won Independent World in 2016

Finally, we get to see the winds groups go head to head. It’s unfortunate there are not many opportunities to compare groups throughout the season.
Any predictions? I have only seen a handful of the WSO groups (in person for some, virtually for others). Miamisburg, Daviess , and Catawba Ridge look strong this year, but honestly the field seems pretty good overall.

For WSA I haven't seen any of the groups live but my gut feeling is the top 3 will be Ben Davis, Mt. Juliet and Valley Christian in some order. Of the groups I did see, Cleveland will be shooting for the WSW silver again, Catawba Ridge I think will medal in WSO and I think Eva Independent will follow up last year's WIA gold with a medal in WIO.

Avon probably in first ahead of a pick-em second and then less than 1.5 points separating the rest. Everybody is that good-- expect that all groups will break 90, possibly 91. Avon is the favorite basically because they start right around the end of Thanksgiving and are quite polished by Feb. The other end of things, Lake Hamilton was probably tweaking in rehearsal last night, and will probably tweak again tonight after semi-finals-- they won SA in 2018 and silver in SO in 2019 doing things that way

All the best to Lake Hamilton, and I’m sure they rehearse just as well and as hard as Avon does — to which I might add, you most likely have no idea how or when Avon rehearses — but blowing out someone else’s candle doesn’t make yours burn brighter.

Seems to me Catawba Ridge, Daviess County, Miamisburg, Spring and South Jones will all be vying for a medal. Very much enjoyed all of WSO!

My progeny talked to some of their kids at the event last year and they told them. Most directors aren't likely to change their formula from year to year, so while I'm being presumptive, it's also circumstantial that their scores at the end of January [when most others are just getting started] outpace anyone else by at least a month or more.
I'm not ripping on anyone. I think their system works well toward winning the events they focus on and they are extremely high class in how they go about it. I also, though, know why such a system would work less well else-- there's tradeoffs in time and program focus that take away from other program goals.

Thank you for keeping these updated! The WSO scores seem to agree with the general consensus here, that the groups are tightly bunched. Now that the prelim run is behind these kids, I am very excited to see them go toe to toe tomorrow. I would not be surprised at all to see some shuffling in the medal positions.

Need to double down & say whatever has been seeping into designers source of inspiration this entire school year has been letting us in the audience feast! Although I've noticed it here & there, I see what the new post Covid era is that defines the heart of this generations arts/marching groups & letting everything sink in, I understand why there's been a lot of change for the coming 2024 fall season. I get the vision lol
Anyways, SW was a pleasure to watch!
