I wonder why nobody came here? NJ has around 7 programs I believe after 2016 (Cumberland Regional, Timber Creek, Collingswood, Winslow Township, Metuchen, Gateway Regional, and Washington Township) which many of them haven't seen them compete not including Cumberland and Winslow in TIA, as well InMotion Wind Performance Company and there has to be other states with a couple wind group.

I wonder why nobody came here? NJ has around 7 programs I believe after 2020 (Cumberland Regional, Timber Creek, Collingswood, Winslow Township, Metuchen, Gateway Regional, and Washington Township) which many of them haven't seen them compete not including Cumberland and Winslow in TIA, as well InMotion Wind Performance Company and there has to be other states with a couple wind group. That is a good question. It seems like for the most part WGI struggles to get winds groups to sign up for regionals that are combined with percussion even in areas where there are currently competing groups. They seem to do much better with the winds only shows. Why exactly that is, I don't know. But the clinics and educational opportunities for both students and staff between prelims and finals that they've been offering at the winds only shows are a nice bonus. I don't know if that kind of thing happens at the combined regionals.

I don't know if that kind of thing happens at the combined regionals. They didn't have a clinic at the Mid East Power Regional which was a combined show. I know a number of directors on the Winds side who avoid combined regionals because of the lack of dedicated Winds judges. The other thing that happens is the date coinciding with a state circuit competition. Most years the Mid East Regional coincided with Indiana Percussion Association state prelims or state finals.

The lack of dedicated winds judges being an issue makes perfect sense and is something that should have occurred to me. I can say that quite often with my winds group at local circuit shows the music and effect tapes can be very hit or miss on how helpful they are, even from judges who are well respected in the circuit for percussion. Visual is typically fine.
