I have a possibly dumb question. When y’all post a band has “dropped” from the schedule, were they previously confirmed and changed their mind or were they just a rumor all along? I keep seeing bands “dropped” on the threads and wondering why there are so many!

I keep seeing bands “dropped” on the threads and wondering why there are so many! Most of the time it's because I suck at upkeep. When a band is confirmed at a show(s), I'm really bad about finding and removing them from other respective threads of shows they may have appeared at. (Thank you, statechamp1239 !) |

I keep seeing bands “dropped” on the threads and wondering why there are so many! It could be either! Posting something on a calendar is by no means a confirmation of attendance (which really never happens until the very moment the band steps on the field) but it is a good guess at intention to attend. "Dropped" means it fell off their calendar and they no longer appear to intend on attending. That also doesn't mean they won't put it back on their calendar eventually (or even show up on the schedule by surprise later on), but it is ALSO a good guess at intention to attend. It's all based directly on what the bands think they're going to be doing 7-9 months from now, which is never an exact science and inevitably leads to a few "confirmed" bands not attending and many, many bands not even "rumored" ending up on the final schedule. All that being said, you wouldn't be wrong to think "then none of this means anything!" and my response to that is that it's better than nothing and I have fun doing this  |
