Not going to lie… I was very much shocked when this popped up. It feels so weird that people are already doing show reveals! 😅😅😅

So many thoughts on that Dixon announcement.
From the somewhat disjointed opening to overly specific reveal of show elements to the "balad" intro. But the one that got me is the closer being "Made popular by DCI 'Blast'...of Malaguena.
I mean, not only was Blast never DCI (Star of Indiana was, but Blast was a different beast) but...like ... Madison Scouts anyone? Or if you wanna get even older school, Hawthorne Caballeros?

Any guesses as to what the show theme/trend of 2024 will be? lol Last year's was definitely light. This year I predict there will be more "us and them" shows than usual (fully guessing there is no thought process behind this lol)

Any guesses as to what the show theme/trend of 2024 will be? lol Taking a wild guess here, but I would love to see some shows about apocalypse. Chaos, unknown, sporadic everything throughout the show. If executed well, we could see some pretty awesome work being put on the field. Take notes, design staff!

OH that’s how you’re sorting it, got it! Technically not public yet, but I may know where some of them will be… oh well, for now they shall stay off the list!

Oh, I thought u secretly received evidence they all going to a BOA event. I just don't want to place a band that might not do any BOA event, so I'll just wait until their calendar, or someone reveal their schedule. For example, Normal, IL I know they would probably do St. Louis, but they don't have anything, so I'll just put them in the NONBOA band list until then. Got it - I love how just as I talk about Carroll being added, it’s confirmed they’re going to Nats this year. Love to see it 😂😂

I'm sure we'd all love to see some S tier shows with darker tones. I'd just personally want designers to broaden the pieces they use lol which has me thinking of a few YouTube channels of producers that I should share in the 'pieces of music you'd like to see in a show' thread

Definitely a lot of overused stuff… would be fun to see “lighter” pieces be used with a dark twist 👀

It was just speculation but I heard that Campbell County, KY might have a show related to video games somehow. I know very little and could be very wrong.

Are any bands using Fugue in g minor? I'm curious why you're interested-- is it a favorite of yours? Or maybe something you've always imagined? I responded because my high school, back in the 80s, did a show with the Little Fugue in it. It was a pretty great arrangement, started off with just 1st trumpet, and then layered in more parts and more sections, section by section, until all of the winds were playing their various rounds. I googled and couldn't find anything on my own high school show, which isn't surprising since very few recordings from that era are still around. But on Youtube there are a few DCI shows you can find, from Carolina Crown, Academy, and Cavaliers.

He's asking because it is one of the most played arrangments in the marching arts, so much so that many people consider it to be "overplayed".
