In all my years as a staff member I have only been to one US Bands show , vs a handful of BOA shows. BOA has the prestige, the top tier judges etc etc etc. But US Bands has BOA beat on making you feel like they are glad that you're there. (For reference the US Bands show was a regional level show at a university run by US Bands staff, not at/run by a high school.)

USBands tends to overextend themselves and that leads generally to very unorganized and hectic events in my experience. They seem to have a quantity over quality philosophy and it really shows in how all over the place I've heard them to be. Confusing judging going down to as far as the 5th decimal place, no real way of keeping track of historical scores, and other personal stories makes me have a bad taste in my mouth when it comes to USBands. Granted I'm sure it's worlds different outside of Texas where it's far more relevant, especially in the north east.

We attend a USBands event almost every fall down here in San Antonio, and the one we attend usually seems to run quite well to be honest. A lot of really good programs perform there too. For example, John B. Alexander won the event last year and Hendrickson performed in exhibition(only due to weather at their respectful competition from the day, but still. JBOPE was there a few years ago too).
