2024 Texas Color Guard Circuit (aka TCGC)

I have noticed several groups this year who are only competing in the Texas CG Circuit and doing no WGI at all (Leander and Dripping Springs for starters). And I am curious as to why! Hopefully we will see these guards back in WGI in the future because first and foremost, there is NO STREAMING SERVICE covering TCGC! 😭😭😭

I think the costs are getting to be a burden on some programs.  The cost of tarps, flags, etc have all skyrocketed in the last few years as well as the cost of the WGI entry fees.  Hoping that something starts to give so we see all these fantastic programs competing on a national scale.  The talent in Texas is so deep...I really hope something can be done to showcase these groups.

It seems like schools with higher budgets are much more capable of doing WGI, and it seems like overall outside of the bands who typically do WGI and are not this year, many, many more Texas schools are throwing their hat in the WGI ring, and I feel like the WGI championships are much more filled in regards to Texas participation.

I know locally McKinney Boyd is leaning heavily into WGI along with the other MISD schools (although North and High have already had plenty of history with WGI before), and Boyd first started doing WGI with any of the current staff was last year, so its going to be exciting for the program since theyve had issues with the Guard with constant director shifts in the 2010s, and are on a pretty dramatic incline.

I feel like overall the participation is higher, but lots of the powerhouse programs who dont have a solid budget for all of band AND CG arent able to sustain the constant funding, while programs who have had well rounded funding are now heavily supporting their guards, and if Im wrong with any of this please tell me, Im relatively new to anything WG related so this is all really speculation

Quite impressive start from dripping springs this year from going on first and still winning in the SNA category. I hope they sign up for a WGI regional last minute like WGI San Antonio so they can see how good they would do in WGI.
