Bands that could be new/first time semifinalists in the future I'll start
Worthington Kilbourne Friendswood Finneytown Bridgeland (the most obvious of them all) Greendale Cheney DeWitt Novi
Idk what else to put here except that the subject title character limit is kind of annoying

Greendale and DeWitt are far cries for semifinals, but never say never, I suppose. I would add Campbell County, Catawba Ridge, Clover, Green Level, Lambert (if they go), and Westlake. Much likelier shots at semis, I feel. Also, the title is perfect as is.

After Bridgeland, Catawba Ridge is the next obvious.

My list of bands that "could be new/first time semifinalists in the future" is as follows:
ANY band that has never been a semifinalist in the past that attends a Grand Nationals
(yes, there are many that will attend and likely never perform a second time the same weekend, but it IS "possible")

I watched a documentary covering their 2022 season a few nights ago… and wow. such a cool band, school, and community. the small town midwest vibes are totally rocking there. Not to mention the kids seemed awesome not just on the field, but as people in general!

Wait, Greendale hasn’t made it before? Wow!
Like I’ve said a billion times…it’s only a matter of time for Nixa. I’m pretty confident Blue Springs South will make it when they choose to go too. Both should benefit from being in AAA. I expect Washington (MO) to go in a few years if they’ve inherited the same plan Wes did with Camdenton, and if they continue on the same trajectory they’re a good contender as well.
I will manifest Missouri domination until it happens

Wait, Greendale hasn’t made it before? Wow! Yup since 2009 they still haven't made semifinals, as well still haven't made finals at a normal Regional too. The closest they came to semifinals was in 2015 when they placed 33rd overall, missing the top 30 by just 0.3. Their second closest approach was in 2017, where they came in 37th. Fun fact: Greendale could have been a semifinalist two or three times now had they performed on the opposite day/panel (assuming they were scored the same). Luck has never been on their side in that manner. I live not far from the area, so I can attest to the following. The problem with Greendale is that they only have one middle school feeder (small town probz), and I’m sorry to say the quality of education that the middle school band kids receive is... currently not the best it could be. There are some kids that come into high school not knowing how to play a Bb scale. The high school directors do their absolute best with what they have, but that is probably the single biggest factor in why they struggle to perform twice at Indy.

As for the Michigan contingent:
DeWitt is on my radar to possibly make it on class (AA). DeWitt has come a long way in the last 5 or 6 years.
Novi did compete in BOA in the 2000s at the regional level. Novi has historically been strong for many many years but have yet to get to that next level.
Lake Orion has the potential to be a semi finalist. I believe that they fell just a bit short in a previous attempt a few years back.
I think Byron Center has been a bit overlooked because they are competing in the same flight as Jenison. If they keep improving and decide to do BOA, I could see them possibly making it on class.

Last season they placed third at the Maryland Regional, scoring an 80.950 in finals right behind Independence. From previous years the lower end of semifinalists score ~76, so they have a good shot. Also, huge props to Independence and Green Level for becoming very good bands as early as they have. COVID was rough on many bands, and yet their new programs powered through it and have become amazing for the little time they’ve had in the BOA circuit.

Agreed on Green Level. I was impressed at Conway. Mr Myers did great at Green Hope so no doubt will continue that here. They had some impressive ordinals at Conway too
