That was one of the most electrifying performances I've ever seen. Fusion 100% has the ability to take this all. I don't think I've ever wanted a group to win more. In my mind, this show has Broken Arrow 2006/Phantom Regiment 2008 levels of destiny.

I'm so torn right now... The Bostonian in me (who also just found out there are a few Dartmouth members in Sac) wants Sac to get their long awaited turn back in the winner's circle, but the other part of me feels like this has all been building up to a Fusion win, which would be incredible to witness.
I'm sticking with my Guard of Destiny statement and keeping my fingers crossed for a Fusion win tomorrow night.

WGI just reported that AMP won’t be performing tonight and there will be a break when their time would have been.
Does anyone know what’s going on?

The unofficial word we've heard going around was a very bad stomach flu of sorts took out half of the guard.

The unofficial word we've heard going around was a very bad stomach flu of sorts took out half of the guard. Awful situation. Not a great feeling when something is so out of your control. Hoping they're all at least able to rebound quickly - that bug is extremely hard on the body. That might also explain Downey's absence from Semi's. I did see a post online about some girls being "sick."

Nice way to open Finals, CG!! That's got to be one of their strongest groups of performers post-Covid, and they were consistently out-performing that lackluster design all year. Such a cool song to use for winter guard with so few of the neat phrases & duet moments highlighted or written to, which is so odd for CG - do they have a new design team? Up there with Miamisburg, I feel like until recently CG was absolutely unmatched year after year as THE group who captured every musical nuance in their delicate, gossamer soundtracks. That's what they're known for! To their credit, this strong, strong group cleaned the heck out of this show - I thought they were sunk after MidEast Finals but those kids are so well-trained and obviously worked so hard to (rightfully!) land in Finals. What a turn around in a few short weeks!

I see you, Stonemason Douglas! A sublime Finals-worthy performance. The show really seemed to click the last week or so of the season, and I get it - that was a TOUGH book, and the show had so many different segments & moods to transition in and out of. I really enjoyed where that group took the show by the season's end!

Excellent job, Flanagan!! It's beyond wonderful to see this historic, activity-defining group back at a Finalist level for the first time since 2019. Once long-time director Dean Broadbent left for Stoneman Douglas, they seemed poised for a rough drop - I remember in 2020, as the season started and before everything shut down, they had dropped down to SO class locally and withdrawn from all WGI events. The director now seems to have really built that program back up - even last season I was really wondering what their future would hold, I don't think they popped a single sub caption in Semis last year that was close to the top 15. Flash forward a year later and they're a sure bet for Finals, and with a nod to their Sigur Ros history as well!! So cool. I thought Flanagan was terrific this season, and it's so great to see them back.

Those Northview performers are rock solid, and have been all season long. Their characterization of these 60s/70s styles is out of this world. Nobody does Northview like Northview

FLAWLESS, NORTHVIEW!!!!!!!! I'm nuts about their new identity. They always start slow but absolutely sparkle by the season's end. I know they don't quite match their peers in the M.A. caption, but damn if those farm girls from "Bray-zl" don't spin the shit out their equipment year in and year out - and Northview has been doing it for pretty much the entirety of my lifespan! Ruth Anne's legacy continues, and continues in spades.
It's an absolute pleasure every single season, Northview!!!! Thank you for that performance! I was cheering from my couch!

Bellbrook has been on either side of the cut line for what feels like the better part of a decade. They left absolutely no doubt this year. Easily (and by a wide margin) the best version of the Bellbrook guard to date.

Absolutely sublime, Bellbrook. I knew Bellbrook would find their way back to SW class; I never would have guessed they would achieve this level of success. What a jaw-dropping group they fielded this year!! They turned heads at the MidEast Power Regional and forced everyone to recognize them, then grew from there substantially. And, of note - this is our only SW Finalist (actually now that I think about it, only SW group top to bottom!) without a high school feeder guard - 9-12 is all on the floor. And yet, they're easily tossing & competing with the likes of storied programs - Warren Central, Miamisburg, Northview, & Center Grove. I am so thrilled to see Bellbrook this good!!!!

Miamisburg is so talented and wonderful as usual, but with their absence, I'm beginning to realize how much of a crutch the lights in the tarp were this season (at least outside of the performance captions). With a music choice like that, they were able to provide some progression throughout the show that was very much missing in finals. They were so effective that their absence was very noticeable.

I have to say, I was a little worried about the 'Burg mid-season, but woooowwwwww did they find their footing. They ain't going anywhere. Looks like Heather Graham has taken a step back to more of a design/consultant role, so I'm sure there were some new leadership transitions to work out, but damn if that wasn't completely covered up by the season's end. They looked & performed like the Miamisburg I know and love. And that show was just as challenging as anything they've put out recently!! They sure didn't go lighter on the tempo fluctuations or exposure. What a massive year of growth for this historic group!! Look for them to climb easily back up the ranks next season.

Warren Central, that wasn't acting. That was pure, raw emotion. Holy cow, was that impactful. I can see why a rock solid performance got them to their spot after prelims.

Kiski has the type of show that makes me wonder "where is this going?" And then it gets there and it's freaking brilliant. There is SO MUCH equipment work in that show!

I can't believe how good Kiski got, not just from last season to this, but from MidEast Power Regional to now. They did some serious cleaning. That ending flag feature is such a next-level hit - the rotating square drill reminds me of Shen's flag feature a few years back on the spinning prop! Kiski is HERE TO STAY! I really look forward to what they bring out after this season's growth. They'll be ready to play with the big guys soon enough.

El Dorado gets my vote for one of the more brilliant designs this season in its nuance and subtlety. There is frequently a single member throughout the show doing something just slightly different than everyone else in the ensemble and finding a way to stand out.
They've been developing the hell out of this mature design style for the past few years and I'm loving it.
