Does anyone have any idea what this was? According to the BOA score sheets, it was held in September and the quick recap only lists Carmel, Avon, and Lawrence Central. I am new but I have studied past BOA scores, ect. and just wanted to know if you all know anything! Thanks.

Thanks. 2008 was the first year Lucas Oil Stadium was officially open for business and would become the future location of BOA championships. To help prepare for the move, BOA hosted a very early season event (I believe it was September) so 1. Bands could get a feel for the new stadium, 2. BOA can fully pinpoint any issues in the flow and 3. Address any other issues that come up during the competition. It was not a big competition at all. I remember reading about some complaints about noise echoing around in the stadium because there wasn't enough people in the stands. It was, however, well-attended. I think it was like 12-15 bands from IN, OH and KY that showed up.

The full recap is here: www.hornrank.com/2008/09/sound-check-at-lucas-oil-stadium-sept.htmlBands were allowed to come in and just check out the surroundings as well. Prominent directors were also in attendance, so if you were a young band director and you wanted to meet Wayne Markworth or Greg Bimm, that was available to you.

IIRC, bands were able to attend and perform without being scored, as well. I vaguely remember several groups being there that aren't on the recap...

I was there. I feel like their were at least 20 bands in attendance. Maybe my memory is fuzzy. I do remember being awestruck by the new stadium though.
