Considering registration for the 2021 WGI season is now open and most winter guards have been cast by now, I thought I might go ahead and start a thread! This season is entirely virtual and takes place through video upload that will be aired on Flomarching over seven weekends in the spring. WGI has included categories outside the traditional competitive group this year- there are also spots for solos and small ensembles, as well as noncompetitive groups and showcases. Additionally, members can enter more than one category by paying the entrance fee (so a member could compete with their group, but also do their own solo for the solo portion). All of that information and more can be found here: wgi.org/virtual/As much as I wanted an in-person season, I think that we will be graced with the opportunity to see a lot of really unique performances this year, especially with all of the new angles a guard can explore virtually.
