From the Midwest Marching website and a Facebook post from Doug Schaffer, the director at Mark Twain HS:
“A group of directors have come together to form the Missouri State Marching Association (MSMA). Our long term goal is to create a state circuit in which bands compete in qualifiers before attending the state festival. This year however we are simply starting with one, state-wide festival. It will be held at South Callaway High School on October 29th. We hope you join us for our inaugural competition!”
As someone who’s been asking for a MO circuit for years now, this is incredibly exciting. With schools like Blue Springs, Blue Springs South, Grain Valley, Camdenton, Fort Zumwalt North, Kickapoo, Hollister, Mark Twain, and Nixa being so active in larger BOA contests in the past few years, demand for an actual state contest has certainly gone up, and having a MO-exclusive contest should do great things to bring more schools to the competitive scene.
