Campbell preformed at a football game tonight. Here is the video. Sorry about the quality. They know their ballad they just don’t have it performance ready, so this is just the opener. Campbell looks solid. Definitely a contender for the top half of finals.

Prelims schedule posted above. Out of the top 4, Centerville with the "earliest" slot will be interesting. Norwin and Rockford aren't too far apart and obviously Jenison has the most ideal performance time.

Help me remember, how does the prelims schedule equate to where bands perform in finals? It’s not like their spot really matters in all in all, they most likely look like they are going to medal, it’s really finals which will determine the outcome. I am curious how the shift from prelims to finals will be with these slottings.

Help me remember, how does the prelims schedule equate to where bands perform in finals? I caught the sarcasm, but I’ll say it anyway. It doesn’t. The “correct” 12 bands almost always advance to finals regardless of prelims performance time. The only time a very early performance time could be considered less-than-optimal for advancing to finals is if you are a “bubble band.” The first performance dictates numbers management for the rest of the day. Beyond that, performance order in prelims competition doesn’t really matter.

Based on slotting alone (granted I have only see some of these groups shows so far) I believe prelims could fall like this
Jenison Centerville Rockford Norwin
I believe Norwin and Centerville could both be bumped down in prelims with their earlier slotting times. However finals is still anyone's game as we know these groups with me some of the last to perform.

I will make one other comment and that is sometimes an early morning performance is not always the band's best. I have seen many bands have a shaky early morning performance, then come back much stronger in the evening finals performance (assuming they make finals). I know way back when I was in school, I just felt more alert/awake in the afternoon and evening performances. Funny, now I seem to be the complete opposite in my work life. Must be an age related thing.

Rockford and Jenison will both be at the Rockford Inv on 9/24. This will be a good first look at both of them before Toledo

Does anyone know for certain what class Rockford will be in. The MCBA enrollment numbers which were just finalized (which counts 9th to 12th grades) suggests Rockford will be in 4A. The only thing that would prevent that is if they just have a really big freshman class. The latest update on Rockford High School enrollment (which is 10 to 12 grade) that I could find is two years old.

Mt. Lebanon listed as 3A on Competition Suite. Rockford officially listed as 3A. With that news, it looks like AA will be really the only competitive class in prelims, with the other 3 pretty much being locked up. (Lake Orion COULD give Rockford a little scare, and we will see what PCEP comes out with)

At the Rockford Inv this evening, Jenison was at 78.60 and Rockford at 80.75. Still 2 weeks away, but looks like both are strong, and Rockford is in a great spot.

At a KMEA competition. Campbell County just scored a 77.05 I wouldn’t count them out for the AA championship.

This looks to be one of the most competitive Toledo regionals in several years. A lot can still happen in two weeks. I have always found that the last week of September and first week of October to be pretty pivotal for many bands. I have seen for many that this time period is when a lot of shows really start to click. I think Lake Orion still has a shot at a top 5. I have seen Centerville and they are certainly strong contenders for the title.

Absolutely, even same circuit but different competitions (ex, Lake Orion at 77.2 vs Rockford and Jenison at their respective scores)

But a high 70’s with a couple weeks to go is still a promising sign no matter the circuit.

At Norwin's festival this past Saturday McKeesport took 1st in A, with score of 77.050, and Mt. Lebanon took 1st in AAA with 81.725. How they will be in AA at Toledo is above my pay grade. And in case anyone cares, Kiski's score was 88.525.

PIMBA classes are by number of students in the performing band: Class A: 1 - 54 Class AA: 55 - 74 Class AAA: 75 - 99 Class AAAA: 100 - up BOA classes are by total students grades 10-12 at the school(s) the band represents: Class A – 600 or fewer Class AA – 601 -1325 Class AAA – 1326 -1850 Class AAAA – 1851 or more
