It’s so hard to compare them to each other when they compete on varying weeks. Having watched our group how they prep for different competitions and weeks- so much can change week to week. I love seeing the shows progressions this year and love that flo is replaying the day after competitions! The guard kids love being able to watch what happened the day before when they didn’t have time to watch- and see the other shows.

I always think it's exciting to see how much change can happen from a prelims to finals performance with even the slightest adjustments & pep talks from reviewing the earlier show!

Has not competed in a WGI event yet; --- Bellbrook HS - Bellbrook, OH --- Candoris Nov Test - Annville, PA --- Chino HS - Chino, CA --- Diamond Bar HS - Diamond Bar, CA --- East Coweta HS - Sharpsburg, GA --- Flanagan HS - Pembroke Pines, FL --- James Logan HS - Union City, CA --- Maui HS - Kahului, HI --- Northview HS - Brazil, IN --- Park Vista HS - Lake Worth, FL --- Stoneman Douglas HS - Parkland, FL --- Timber Creek HS - Orlando, FL --- Trumbull HS - Trumbull, CT --- West Broward HS - Pembroke Pines, FL Let's clean up this list a bit! Of the 19 SW groups attending WGI, only the following 4 have yet to receive a prelims seeding score: - Bellbrook, OH (they must have just been promoted; they competed at the Avon regional in SO!) - Flanagan, FL - Stoneman Douglas, FL - West Broward, FL Already competed in a WGI event: - Northview, IN Currently in World Class but not going to Dayton: - Chino, CA - James Logan, CA Currently in Scholastic Open: - Diamond Bar, CA Currently in Scholastic A: - Park Vista, FL - Timber Creek, FL - Trumbull, CT ?: - Maui's not attending WGI, but I'm not sure what class they're in... - East Coweta, GA - not registered for any WGI or SAPA events Lastly, I don't know who "Candoris Nov Test - Annville, PA" is, but I'm OBSESSED with her. I want HER to win the gold.

Another helpful resource for this thread is the 2023 Color Guard Standings on the WGI site. Every Tuesday, WGI takes the highest score that a group received in prelims or finals the previous weekend, adds a certain number* to it, and ranks them in comparison to everyone else going to Dayton. These "seeding scores" are what are used to determine the performance order at WGI prelims. *The "certain number" = 1.5 x how many weekends of regionals are left. For example, The Woodlands' seeding score as of today is 91.500. They received an 86.000 at Austin finals this past weekend, and they add 4.5 to it (1.5 x 3 weekends left). (If a group competes on the last weekend of regionals at the end of this month, their highest score that weekend will be their seeding score, as 1.5 x 0 weekends left = 0.) Lastly, here are the Current Entries for each WGI event. There are 19 SW groups heading to Dayton in April. Only these 19 groups will have seeding scores on the Color Guard Standings page. This is why you won't see groups like Sunlake on the Standings page; though they competed at the Tampa regional in February, they aren't attending WGI championships, so they won't receive a seeding score.

Let's clean up this list a bit! Not sure where you are seeing anything on Timber, Park, Diamond & Trumbull. Their social media & of the websites that work they don't state class or haven't been updated in a few years. I know Timber is in class A for their Palm Beach competition & Diamond is in Open for Manhattan Beach, I was going to wait till the updated schedule (current ones are from 4 weeks ago) for that regional to update this to see if they were truly bumped up like Flower Mound this past weekend.

I think a lot of the info at wgi.org/color-guard/search-groups/ is outdated. Timber Creek was a SW finalist about a decade ago, then was in Open for a bit, and is now in A. They recently won their class at an FFCC show and are currently entered for SA Prelims at the upcoming WGI Palm Springs regional. Park Vista won SO in 2018, competed regionally in SW in 2019 and 2020, then the pandemic hit their entire band program hard. They currently compete in SAA in SFWGA, most recently winning a local show! They might be promoted to SA. I'm less familiar with Diamond Bar, but I think it's been a number of years since they were in SW. If anyone else here knows more, let me know! They scored a 69.60 at a WCWG show about a month ago, so I don't think they'll be promoted up from SO this season. Lastly, Trumbull has had a similar trajectory as Park Vista, reaching new heights in their program in 2018-2019, then getting a fresh start in SA post-pandemic. At their MAC home show this past weekend, they competed in Scholastic A, a tier down from the National Scholastic A division in their circuit (though if those two divisions were combined, the recap implies they would've finished fourth out of nine groups). They are currently entered in SA for the WGI Bethlehem regional in two weeks. Given the competitive trajectories of these groups, I don't believe we'll be seeing any of them in SW this season.

Given the competitive trajectories of these groups, I don't believe we'll be seeing any of them in SW this season. That's what I figured for the ones I saw registered in SA, but good to know the background on those groups! I only knew of Park Vista being hit hard marching band wise when they were becoming a group that could've contended with the greats from their upward rise. We'll see what Diamond has to offer in a couple weeks, but for now I'll add a 'yet to be confirmed' & let the season play out.

I'd say my final top 5 predictions after this weekend would be;
1st - Tarpon 2nd - Carmel 3rd - Woodlands 4th - Avon 5th - Stoneman
Carmel & Woodlands would be very close to the point where I could even see Woodlands taking 2nd
The most exciting shows IMO are Tarpon & Avon
