only because I have seen a couple of the post band camp videos: 1 Catawba Ridge H.S., SC 2 Kennesaw Mountain H.S., GA 3 South Jones H.S., MS 4 Navarre H.S., FL 5 Sparkman H.S., AL 6 Tocoi Creek H.S., FL 7 Fort Walton Beach H.S., FL 8 Harrison Central H.S., MS 9 Cypress Creek H.S., FL 10 James Clemens H.S., AL What's your reason for Navarre in 4th? I think they might play in exhibition, as they play on the festival band side. ..in this thread the band was listed as a competing... so based on that and a couple videos from last year... does that help?

Ok. I was just asking because last year Bergenfield NJ was listed and went to Rutgers, but they played in Exhibition. So I didn't know if Navarre was in the same situation.

One day early, because, why not? "Final" predictions rolling out starting next week!
(Almost) exactly two months until this contest! It's time for very early predictions. For this smaller show, I'll try and predict placements rather than the tier system.
While I'm of the mind that Kennesaw Mountain will walk away with the gold, I can definitely see a case for Catawba Ridge as well. I feel like 4-6 could go any which way, along with 7-8 and 9-11. Will need to see some videos from this season to get a better idea!
1. Kennesaw Mountain H.S., GA 2. Catawba Ridge H.S., SC 3. South Jones H.S., MS 4. Sparkman H.S., AL 5. Bob Jones H.S., AL 6. West Broward H.S., FL 7. Harrison Central H.S., MS 8. Cypress Creek H.S., FL 9. Fort Walton Beach H.S., FL 10. Pelham H.S., AL 11. James Clemens H.S., AL 12. D'Iberville H.S., MS 13. Tocoi Creek H.S., FL 14. Navarre H.S., FL 15. Oak Grove H.S., AL

The Daily Schedule implies that only 12 bands will perform in finals here. If I recall correctly, a show with 15 or less bands in prelims typically all would advance to finals, but maybe that changed this year.

I’ve got Catawba Ridge first, Kennesaw Mountain second, and after that no idea. Excited to see some of these southern bands I haven’t heard about before

I think the race for 3rd will be a Jones-off between Bob and South, Cypress Creek or West Broward are in that conversation too depending on what kind of seasons they have

Mississippi just had their State Evaluation, and everyone, but D'Iberville qualified. Also, Harrison Central placed 3rd behind Ocean Springs and Gautier at their night show.

I’m looking forward to this regional, especially now that it’s “the week of.” Late regionals are always fun, since everyone has had a few weeks to finish and polish their entire show.
Kennesaw and Catawba look to be the favorites going in, but you never know in 2023! I haven’t had a chance to see Kennesaw live yet this year, but the brief clips I’ve seen look very promising. I got to see CR last night at SCBDA state and they were VERY strong. Looked like they had a couple of technical issues, but they have definitely improved since Conway. They are my pick to win.

Alabama: - Sparkman (94.08) were State runner-up to Hoover (94.60) by 0.52 points, but Sparkman achieved best Visual and General Effect. However, Bob Jones (92.00) the defending State Champion placed 3rd just 1.92 points away from The Senators.
- Bob Jones has beaten Siegel, TN by 0.550 points at local TN comp.
- James Clemens placing 2nd to Central-Carroll (GA) the Grand Champion at the Peach State Festival on Saturday (10.28) with best music.
- Pelham and Oak Grove won their Classes at States: Pelham (92.12) and Oak Grove (89.20)
Mississippi: - Another MS powerhouse, South Jones has won every competition this year beating Central Lafourche (LA), E.D. White (LA), Petal (MS), J.M. Tate (FL), Mandeville (LA), Gautier (MS) as well Harrison Central (MS). They won Class 5A MS State, but losing Music and General Effect to Stone, MS
- Harrison Central (MS) didn't make 7A State Finals due to a 3.4 penalty placing them 10th (77.450), but without the penalty they would have placed 8th (80.850) which would have replaced Petal (MS) (79.650) placement for finals.
- D'Iberville received a Good Rating at the State Evaluation failing to classify for States. They stayed in the lower placement at each competition like placing at 10.07 - 9th/10th overall at the Battle on the Beach
Florida: West Broward History: - In 2019 they won Class 5A FMBC State beating Stoneman Douglas, Oviedo
- In 2021 placing 3rd (91.85) at Class 4A FMBC States behind 2nd place -University (92.10) by 0.25 points and State Champ - Stoneman Douglas (92.20) by 0.45 points.
- In 2022: They won FMBC States Class 4A by 0.35 beating Oakleaf, Fleming Island, Oviedo, University, and overall Windermere (5A).
- 2023: They were Grand Champion (90.100) at the Jupiter Competition on Saturday 10.28 beating Park Vista (83.350) by 6.75 points in Class 4A.
- Tocoi Creek at FFCC Boone Comp - 10.14 placed 4th in Class 4A but overall they beat Duncan U. Fletcher (3A) by 2.775 points, but lost to Timber Creek (5A) and William R. Boone (5A)
I can't find anything on Navarre.

Will be rooting heavily for Catawba Ridge. Two regional championships in their first four years of competing would be amazing. Not to mention all the other awards they’ve racked up.

Are you diminishing the TL Hanna's bands hard work and season they had? Are you saying that the only reason that TL Hanna beat Catawba Ridge has to do with the judging panel and not the performance on the field? For shame.... Did you even watch TL Hanna's performance?

No way TL Hanna could defeat all those same bands CR did at Conway. Do you think TL Hanna could?

How TL Hanna would have fared at Conway is an unknown. TL Hanna bested Nation Ford at 4A Upper State and at 4a State who finished 3rd at Conway. You could make a case that they would have fared just as well as Conway. It was just surprising to see Catawba Ridge place second at SC State and have rank 3rd in Music Ensemble Caption I still think Catawba will win this Region but not as certain than I once was.

Who won 4A was irrelevant to me. CR cemented their strong position as a top dog at Conway, that’s all I need to be convinced of their stature. I do think the panels SCBDA gets are not as comprehensive as BOA panels. But I think that is somewhat minor than many make it out to be. I do overall think CR is the stronger better program dispite whatever 4A results suggest. But TL is rightful winner no question

Because on the UT regional thread you were basing Fort Mill's projected placing on them besting River Bluff at an NC Marching contest. Are the NC panels somehow more indicative of BOA success than the SC judging panels? Also, I find interesting you are backing away from your early implying that TL Hanna only bested Catawba because of who is on the TL Hanna staff and the judging panel. Methinks you are trying to have it both ways. Either TL Hanna is the rightful winner OR they won because of The SC judging panel and TL Hanna connection thus they were not the rightful winner. No third choice here Same with Fort Mill, either SC/NC competitions are indicative of BOA success or they are not.
