Wow, what a difference a year can make. River Bluff and Clover so close. I think Clover is a good band, but I almost think Andrew Markworth gave them too basic a show. I’ll have to compare the recaps.
Last year at 5A state Clover and River Bluff were separated by 10 points.

Second, Byrnes was awarded first over Wando last week and Wando clearly showed they can compete for GN finals in Indy last night. And Lafayette is a knock your socks off great band. I do feel like their design was thrown in the ol' "BOA high score generator machine" as compared to the other two much more inspired programs and that's probably why they lost. JFB show seems loosely reminiscent of a recent Cavaliers DCI show that was based on the news (2016?). I loved that one too. |

With their last band director, I think 100% they would be in the top half of finals, but after their band director and a few staff changes back in 2022 it's just not the same, but I do think they do have to potential to make finals, they were 3.95 points from Lambert at the BOA affiliate Cass Show, so I could see them in the 7th - 15th range I need to shut up. South Forsyth is making finals, quite impressive show. Apparently you need to not shut up. Still, lots of bands would love to score 72 in BOA. |

How exciting to see Lafayette and JFB blow past people’s expectations (did I use the apostrophe correctly? 😅😅)! I am so happy to see fresh faces at the top of these regionals this season. What a great year so far for marching bands!

[b JFB did it before in this world. In 99 JFB won Johnson City and DB didn’t make finals. But I get what you mean. Is prob a moot point because after watching them all I am pretty positive Lafayette has it this year. Same. Funny enough it was Lafayette that JFB beat that year. But after seeing them live today, Lafayette is cooking with fire and we’re still rubbing sticks together. I have to tell you. I’m a Lafayette Band Dad and a part of the field crew. Your comment about cooking with fire had us in stitches yesterday 😂. Also we can’t thank ALL OF YOU enough for the kind words, encouragement, and recognition of our kids and this incredible show they do. Was pleasantly surprised by Green Hope this weekend. Especially the friendship between the Raleigh-Cary schools. It’s like no other. Congrats to all finalists, participants, and Lafayette for their championship this weekend!

It's very encouraging to see Lafayette turn into a consistent BOA competitor. It seems like they just get better each and every year. I'm hoping a GN appearance is on the cards for this band in the near future.
