It’s so great to see these bands out parking and moving into warmups soon. Wasn’t sure this would even be able to go on a couple of weeks ago. Good luck to everyone today!

Up and ready to go at 5:30 this morning. Living on the west coast has its disadvantages at times.

I will say, as someone who has been watching South Forsyth for the last few years, I will be shocked if they don’t place in finals or really close. They have alot of potential With their last band director, I think 100% they would be in the top half of finals, but after their band director and a few staff changes back in 2022 it's just not the same, but I do think they do have to potential to make finals, they were 3.95 points from Lambert at the BOA affiliate Cass Show, so I could see them in the 7th - 15th range I need to shut up. South Forsyth is making finals, quite impressive show.

Well if South Forsyth doesn’t make finals this year, they will certainly make it in the near future if they choose to keep doing BOA. Very nicely done!

Reminder that everyone said JFB couldn’t beat Wando at Conway…

I think Byrnes has a better run in them for finals, but wow they are good. I love a show with no gimmicks - just great playing and marching.
But lesson learned with that giant wall in front of them with the mic issues. Gotta pull those speakers back to reduce feedback

But lesson learned with that giant wall in front of them with the mic issues. Gotta pull those speakers back to reduce feedback JFB kind of comes across as a great band that's not super awesome at the logistics of this activity. How they came on the field and set up and all the show logistical issues with audio... Honestly, it kind of seems like they don't really focus on the push on---push off and the differences from venue to venue. Hopefully they figure it out before finals because they're fantastic, even if it's uncomfortable to watch and hear the issues they're having.

Yeah JFB can definitely clean that up for tonight’s run. They had to get scaffolding in this week to try and account for the wall. I’ve communicated that to one of the staff, but honestly I’m not sure how they can handle it differently other than pulling the equipment out further. The reality is that they were nervous and also probably still tired. I knew coming into this one that they had the potential to play “down” after last week and putting a closer on the field in 2 days. Musically the closer is decent enough for today, but they have a lot of visuals to inject over the next couple of weeks.
As far as the push on, etc…I would imagine that until they are penalized, it’s not a priority.
Tonight’s goal has to be: sort the electronics, clean the feet more, address those little tears musically in a couple of places and just enjoy performing. Medalling is certainly on the table.

I’m not a fan of this venue at all. Ive been told it’s one of the worst listening environments BOA offers. Everything is just… LOUD. And that front wall doesn’t help; nothing helps the performers here!

And that front wall doesn’t help; nothing helps the performers here! musically, everything is definitely loud. The bands have to work to create any dynamic contrast in every phrase it seems. Loud doesn’t equal good so they have to make that distinction in their playing for sure. Just another challenge.

Great job, River Bluff! Mid-sized hornline coupled with a HUGE guard and beautiful overall sound. We should definitely be seeing that again tonight!

Hardin Valley Academy was adorable! Love the dust bunnies concept, so cute and clever. They’re on the bubble for sure — if the ensemble overall just played with a little bit more control and nuance, they’d be a force. Hope to see them again!

Aside from technical difficulties at the start, Green Hope did much much better than their run last week at Conway. We will see what happens…

Aside from technical difficulties at the start, Green Hope did much much better than their run last week at Conway. We will see what happens… I saw a post indicating that in addition to hurricanes, they had significant AC issues impacting their summer practices. Sounds like they are handicapped.
