Wait....Skramp lived next door to your mom? Talk about a small world... Edit: ~95% of the people on here have no idea who the hell Skramp is and how close BOA came to extinction in somewhat correlation to him. Man, it's been years since I've spoken with Greg. His kids must be in HS now - wonder if they followed in their band nerd dad's footsteps? They're sophomores in high school now. Aaaaaand I'm feeling old. Edit: You want to know how else I'm old? I started at Marian Bobby Lambert's first year in 2001. His kids (!) are now in high school - they were born after I graduated.

I was lucky to catch the tail end of Google Videos before Google shut it down in favor of Youtube. Back then, copyright wasn't a major thing so it was essentially wild west on those two websites. Consequently, many, many BOA videos got uploaded to that website. I hoarded a number of these links on my personal Facebook much to the annoyance of everyone I knew. Unfortunately, Google took Videos before I could get around to watching them. I'm still pretty bummed out about that- Youtube was, of course, THE website to go to watch all these shows, but the overlap of BOA shows between the two websites were pretty small. Skramp actually used to host a small website around late-'90s-early-'00s-ish that had .mp3s and .mp4s of many BOA shows. Out of consideration to BOA & MFA, he took down the website as internet use began rising significantly. Yes, anyone born after 2000, this was a thing- the internet was a weird but wholesome place then. Fun little tidbit for this thread. Anyway, I largely focused on GN Finals shows after 2000. Some brief notes: 1. I know some of the shows are already out there floating around. I don't need to be told about these. I would prefer a better quality than those currently out. 2. The 2009 shows are struck out because I have the BOA GN DVD for those shows. However, they're not out on the internet, so I included them. 3. I bolded my current white whales. 4. I have an idea for a future project, but it's not going to happen unless I can get access all the shows post-2000. Hence... I really, really would welcome any tips on those shows. 5. If you happen to have BOA DVD's from GN Finals and are in the Indy area, let me know. I'd like to get in touch with you. I'm open to nearly every year except 2009. No joke, did a double-take when seeing your username pop up. Always good to see people pop in here

Skramps was an amazing early resource back in the ramb and BOA forum days. I remember arriving to college in the early early early 2000's and having access to an amazing new technology called T1 internet (hahaha) and downloaded every single file posted on skramps site through the years. Unfortunately those files lived on a computer that has since long been lost. Luckily the last decade or so most videos have been made avail. The only big ones i haven't come across are Kiski 1994, Norwin 1995, Lake Park 1999, Lawrence Central 2000 and Carmel 2000. Wow, that's a blast from the past! Skramp's New Place was like the Napster of marching band content. Mid 2000s the copyright crisis hit BOA & unfortunately ruined their ability to produce/sell BOA content - at least from their archives. Pomona 1996 is on my list. I haven't seen that in a while. Also, from that year, Westerville South & I would like to find Marian Catholic 1991 & a full 1984 BOA GN Finals. The first year BOA GN was held in Indianapolis at The Hoosier Dome.

Bellbrook HS I believe. Can’t remember the year but it was in the 00s. Star Crossed Lovers is a phrase that sticks in my mind about this show. Don’t know if it’s the title or not. Point is they play Tank! by The Seatbelts and I kick myself for never seeing it.

Mention a show and someone on here is liable to have marched in it or know someone that marched in it. Now that I think about it I’m pretty sure I saw this show just sitting from the back during semis which sucks. There’s another show I wanted constantly but they weren’t even an American high school. Nishihara HS. They had a show utilizing the same musical selections Avon’s 2007 Against The Clock. I watched it on YouTube all the time and now I can’t remember the damn year. I believe it is Nishihara. Give a shout out if you ever saw it too.

Jackson Academy, Union, Bellbrook, back to Jackson Academy I forgot about him at Union. Was that 2005? JA was the A champion in 2004, then him and his wife went to Union where they finished 21st on Friday at GN, got ran out of town, went to Bellbrook where they didn't break 75 at GN a year after finishing 18th at GN, got ran out of town and went back to Jackson Academy.

Hi All! I'm new to this board, but a long time MBA and DCA enthusiast. I would be very interested if anyone had videos of old MBA/BOA Grand Nationals from 1979-1981. Specifically, video of the Hanover High School Marching Band (Hanover, PA) performances. This is my alma mater and have found only one grainy video from the 1979 championships in Whitewater, WI. Any help would be GREATLY appreciated!

There are several videos of the 1979 Grand National finalist bands online. Yes the video quality is not that great but that is typical for videos from that era that have been transferred to the web. There are not many videos of the 1980 Grand National finalists. Tate and Flushing and maybe one or two more are online. I have been looking for 1980 Hanover for a long time. At one point the complete audio versions of the 1981 Grand National finalists bands were online. Back then you could either purchase a video or an audio only record of Grand National finals. I do remember at one time seeing the 1981 video of Hanover online.

Thank you for posting these! This show is great, and I particularly like Tiger of San Pedro. The trombone and trumpet soloists actually later became assistants for the band when I was a freshman in '84.
I also did get my years off a bit in my original post. I'd be looking even further back for Hanover HS Band shows on video from 1977 and 1978, also. Our family has some vinyl records of PA States from those years, but no videos.

As for MBA Grand Nationals, they only had audio only recordings in 1976, 1977 and 1978. I believe it was in 1979 that video was added courtesy of PBS. Sometime in the mid 1980s, they stopping selling the records and went strictly with video (I think 800 Video Express was the contract that took over after PBS stopped broadcasting nationals in the mid 1980s). I do not know if Hanover attended Grand Nationals prior to 1979. If they did, they did not make finals. It is possible that no video exists from those years. A few people did have home recorders back then but they were few and far between. So unless the competition was broadcast on TV in the 1970s or someone with a home recorder happened to be in the audience, it is likely that the audio was the only thing recorded.

Does anyone have the video/audio for Marian Catholic's 2017 show? I have a foggy recollection of a tree falling? splitting? halfway through the show... I'm trying to remember what piece was played at this moment. I think it started with solo marimba. If anyone has any leads, I'd appreciate it

I've always wanted to see a high cam video of LD Bell's 2007 Grand National Finals performance. It's my favorite, most rewatched show of all time. The 480p multicam video from the dfife.com archive has always been the best version I've found and it's my go-to, but I really want to see the drill. The closest I've ever gotten are a couple of youtube videos (taken from the stands, in stunning 240p...) of their encore performance.
I honestly don't know if an official high cam recording of 2007 LD Bell even exists (seems like it should, but I've looked off and on for years now and never seen or heard of one). I'd like to try to make hi-def upscaled versions of both the multi- and high cam videos, for my own enjoyment, but mostly I just want to satisfy my curiosity of what exactly is happening on the field when the multicam cuts to soloists.

This is the highest def multi-cam video I've seen here from the L.D. Bell Archives. Unfortunately, I did have a high cam video, back in 2020, but the video disappeared. Probably the owner made it private.

Oh my God, so a highcam video does exist?! I swear, one of these days I'll manage to track it down... thanks for giving me hope!!
I'm assuming you saw it on Youtube? Every now and then, I'll search for "LD Bell band 2007" and sort by upload date to see if anything new pops up, but recently I've been trying to comb through Google video search, archive.org, something called Marching Arts Archive, and some older videosharing sites like dailymotion.
If I do ever find it, I'll be sure to download it and keep a backup for posterity (it'll be the crown jewel of my hoarded collection of marching band and drum corps videos lol).

I'm assuming you saw it on Youtube? Yes, it was on YouTube, that's how I have all the high def multi cam videos of LD Bell, but it was hard to find it as it was an unlisted video at the time hidden in the owner YouTube playlist.
