This thread is basically just the same thing as the Ohio thread but for Kentucky marching band competitions and bands

October 12, 2024 is Campbell County’s Northern Kentucky Festival of Bands.

This would seem the best place to place this...
Rumors persist of yet another classification change being discussed and voted upon. This time, the whiners concerned parties want to add a clause which states that anyone with 100 playing members has to be in 5A no matter the size of the school. You know, so if you had a school of 100 and you somehow managed to convince every kid in the building to participate you'd automatically get thrown to the wolves with schools 10 to 15 times your size and with 10 to 15 times your available resources.
This, it is purported, is somehow more 'fair.'
And--hold onto your hats--another version of the proposal would do the same to any band with more than 80 playing members.
I was dubious of the hybrid system when it was proposed, but have slowly come around to thinking of it as 'acceptable... maybe not that bad?'
But this? This is the absolute peak of 'lets punish those who have committed the sin of successfully involving lots of students in music.'
If I sound salty, I am. This is a dumpster fire of misplaced priorities and philosophically dubious thinking.

I think the overall idea is fine but because the practice of students into music happens so often in KY the ranges might have to be at larger numbers than 100

Update: it would appear wisdom has prevailed over pettiness.
But, watch out in 2025 for the soon-to-be-proposed “Schools Rhyming With Burray have to be in 5A” Proposal. It’s coming.

The other piece of news coming out of conference is that, as most suspected, State is at Louisville this year. My personal favorite venue.
