Taken from the Piscataway thread: Interesting. Just what USBands needed: more events! With the exception of 2015, every NYSFBC championship dating back to at least 2000 has fallen on the last Sunday of October, with some as early as the 26th/27th. With the following Sunday being 11/2, I'm guessing 10/27 is the championship date and we'll once again not be seeing any NY bands here. I'm sure we'll see more of the larger PA bands coming given the new split, but NJ attendance will once again be dicey. At least NJMBDA championships are the following week. I don't think this will interfere with the decision to attend from any of the MA bands. Wakefield doesn't compete in USBands, and KP and Dartmouth have shown they don't mind skipping USBands state championships. Interesting also, they've partnered with Conn-Selmer to celebrate the 150th anniversary of the founding of the company, with a competition on September 28th in Elkhart, Indiana, which I think is USBands' first foray into Indiana. usbands.org/news/article.php?ID=119

(Didn't hit Reply but whatevs...)
Interesting move for USBands to reach out to Elkhart High for two weekends. Not to mention, competing against the BOA Louisville AND Penn Invitational (if invitational dates falls on this weekend) for attendees.
Penn is assuredly the massively preferred venue for bands in the northern part of the state. USBands is going to need to add something special with Conn-Selmer if both are looking for a strong turnout.

This event won’t overlap the Penn Invitational in 2024 (Glenn Northern says it will be 9/21. It makes sense for Goshen to be 9/7, then Concord 9/14), and probably won’t in 2025 (Labor Day is as early as possible. Likely Goshen 9/6, Concord 9/13, and Penn 9/20, especially with the addition of this Conn-Selmer event). The Conn event might overlap the Plymouth Invitational in 2024, but it could be an open Saturday in 2025 as the ISSMA Calendar is “late” in 2025 (State Finals is slated for 11/8).
