Just saw this... bng and LeanderMomma I honestly had forgotten they won 4A, but my general point is that they have never won the most competitive 5A/now 6A class in UIL - not to say they can't, of course. They're clearly capable.

Top 10 in each class predictions (& what I want to happen)
Realistic:
A: 1. Bourbon County HS, KY 2. Adair County HS, KY (?) 3. Lewis Cass HS, IN 4. Estill County HS, KY 5. Norwin HS, PA 6. Norton HS, OH 7. Independence HS, IA 8. Monrovia HS, IN 9. Ninety Six HS, SC 10. John Hardin HS, KY
AA: 1. Tarpon Springs HS, FL 2. Marian Catholic HS, IL 3. North Hardin HS, KY 4. Jenison HS, MI 5. Bassett HS, VA 6. Miamisburg HS, OH 7. Greenfield Central HS, IN 8. Lake Hamilton HS, AK 9. Camdenton HS, MO 10. Roma HS, TX
AAA: 1. Blue Springs HS, MO 2. Leander HS, TX 3. Cedar Park HS, TX 4. Dobyns-Bennett HS, TN 5. Lafayette HS, KY 6. Castle HS, IN 7. Franklin HS, TN 8. Stephen F. Austin HS, TX 9. Floyd Central HS, IN 10. Columbus North HS, IN
AAAA: 1. Carmel HS, IN 2. Avon HS, IN 3. Broken Arrow HS, OK 4. Ronald Reagan HS, TX 5. Flower Mound HS, TX 6. Vandegrift HS, TX 7. Hebron HS, TX 8. William Mason HS, OH 9. Vista Ridge HS, TX 10. Homestead HS, IN
What I want:
B L U E
SPRINGSSSSSS (& leander)
All jokes aside, don’t get mad. FloMo had an off year and got beat many times but are still one of the best bands out there. It happens to the best of them. Also, do we think Adair will return to BOA? Clarification: this is not based on which bands are “better” this is who I think will be successful next season. It really hurt to leave Marcus off but Homestead has more potential in my opinion.

How many bands have won Grand Nationals without previously winning a super regional (obviously since super regionals were introduced)? Did any band win a national title without previously winning any regional at all? Maybe a summer GN champion? Since the first super regionals; 2003 - San Antonio, then Atlanta and St Louis in 2004 and Indy in 2011, these are the bands that did not pick up a super regional title prior their Grand National win; starting in 2003.
2004 Lawrence Central 2005 Carmel 2006 Broken Arrow 2008 - 2010 Avon
2019 Vandegrift
Since the start of fall Grand Nationals in 1980, all Grand National champions have won at least one regional title prior to their win.
All 4 of the Grand National champions from the 1970s (held in June); Live Oak - 76 and 78, Murray - 77, Sylva-Webster - 79 did not win a regional title prior to their win. Regionals actually just started in 78.
As for the summer nationals of the 80s, the bands who won the title without winning a regional prior to their win: 80 - Conant; 82 - Herscher (they won a regional in the fall after their win); Marian Catholic 84 and 85 (they won their first regional the fall of 85); Christian Brothers - 89

With Nation Ford and Fort Mill recovering after a school split, where does everyone think they will place? Fort Mill will still be 3A and NAFO most likely 2A. And if Wando attends, where would they place?

Since I happen to believe in using fact... MC, Miamisburg, Jenison and North Hardin were in the same panel. Different days (MC was on Friday) but the same panel. You just said it. Different days. Semis was on the same day.

Semis was on the same day. Same panel = same judges using same criteria. This is NOT the old Thursday/Friday split anymore. Miamisburg beat Marian Catholic in the eyes of the judges who adjudicated both of them in prelims. FWIW, I found it interesting that Greg Bimm appeared to be very pleased with the prelims performance upon exiting the field and not so much following semifinals. His opinion of the two performances differed from that of the judges.

Bourbon should be back although like every year are on the 1A/2A border. As for Adair I won’t go into detail but something unrelated to Nationals itself has left a bad taste in their mouth that occurred at the time of nationals. I have multiple friends who are Adair alumni that have told me they won’t be back for a while in addition to some financial concerns. They could be telling me wrong, but that’s I was told and I trust them. Estill seems pretty pumped and should be back again. Lafayette almost def next year just waiting it to be official. I was told if they weren’t still in some debt they would’ve come this year, but that’s a rumor that I can’t confirm.

While you are at it, I think several other districts would make some great "super-bands".
Katy ISD (draws from schools including Seven Lakes, Tompkins, JET)
Round Rock ISD (draws from schools including Round Rock, Westwood, Cedar Ridge)
Keller ISD (draws from schools including Keller, Timber Creek, Keller Central)
Conroe ISD (draws from schools including The Woodlands, Oak Ridge, TWCP)
Pflugerville ISD (draws from schools like Pflugerville, Hendrickson, Weiss)
Cy-Fair ISD (draws from schools including Cy- Fair, Cypress Falls, Bridgeland, Langham Creek)
Frisco ISD (draws from schools including Wakeland, Lebanon Trail, Lone Star)
Birdville ISD (draws from Haltom, Richland, and Birdville)
Eagle Mountain- Saginaw ISD (draws from Boswell, Saginaw, and Chisolm Trail)
Fort Bend ISD (draws from schools like SFA, Clements, and Travis)
Garland ISD (draws from schools like Sachse, Rowlett, Lakeview Centennial)
Klein ISD (draws from schools like Klein, Klein Oak, Klein Collins)
Mansfield ISD (draws from schools like Mansfield, Lake Ridge, Summit)
Northside ISD (draws from schools like Brandeis, Sandra Day O'Connor, Taft, and Warren)
Richardson ISD (draws from schools like Berkner, JJ Pearce, Lake Highlands)
United ISD (draws from schools like John B Alexander, United, United South)
There are others that would just combine two schools like Pearland and Dawson, Sharyland and Pioneer, Wylie and Wylie East, or LD Bell and Trinity. I could go on and on but I realize that I have already gone way over the top with this.

Go ahead and make those combined monsters. It will open about 40 spots for other bands to experience San Antonio when Leander ISD sends one band instead of five, just to cite one example.

Agreed considering Leander ISD could’ve gone toe to toe with the state of Indiana in 2019 and still come out ahead IM😀. They are certainly an anomaly.

Ok so I live in Kentucky also, and these are some rumored participants:
Regulars: North Hardin Bourbon County
Likely: Beechwood Estill County Lafayette Madison Central South Laurel
Unlikely: Adair County Paul Lawerence Dunbar Ryle Russell County
The only new bands that could make waves from KY are Lafayette, as shown in Johnson City and South Laurel, who beat Bourbon at state. Thoughts?

Going to Grand Nationals is a great learning experience for the kids. Happy to see them make the trip, with all respect to Bridgeland it’s tough to take the national stage when you aren’t a top-dog ; kudos to them for putting themselves out there.

I think Bridgeland may be a nice surprise for us all next year. They are such a new school and have already been very successful. They came on very strong at the end this year winning against some really strong competition and placing second at the US bands contest.

Non-Finalist Texas bands are among my favorite group of attendees!! It's a rarity to get them up, and it's a treat for both them and us when they attend. Prosper 2017 is a great example; they learned SO MUCH from that trip to the national stage, and they made Semis that much deeper that year for the audience.
