Today was a sad, sad day. At about 945 this morning a helicopter took off in a town in California. There were nine people on the helicopter. Two of those people were on their way to a championship youth women’s basketball game in another town in California. Sadly, 40 minutes after takeoff the helicopter crash killing all nine people on board including the two that are on the way to the basketball game. Those two were a future Hall of Famer basketball player Kobe Bryant and his 13-year-old daughter Gianna Bryant. It goes without words to say that the world was impacted with the loss of a hero today. Millions and millions of people across the world or morning his untimely death as he was only 41 years old. During the Spurs game today both the Spurs and the Raptors decided that after tip off both teams would run a 24 second clock violation in honor of Kobe Bryant’s jersey, number 24. CVS news did two different special reports today in honor of this man that has been so important to the United States over the last two and a half decades. At 9 PM tonight CBS did a special commemoration show before the local news regarding the death of Kobe Bryant and spoke with many players that were affected by him throughout his career including his former coach Jerry West.
I’m sure that many of you have different stories of things that you remember from his life, including a story that Daniel shared on another platform and likely will end up sharing here at some point. This man was not only a legend with his athletic ability, but also a legend in his personality, his humbleness, and his drive to help those around him succeed. This is likely one of the most dedicated men I’ve ever seen.
Thank you Kobe Bryant.

Very sad day for the sports world and as a father the news of his daughter passing as well just makes it so much harder to swallow.
Rest in Peace, Kobe & Gianna.

Any basketball fan knows Mamba went beyond the sport. To lose him and his legacy in this manner is just devastating. RIP.
