Good morning! I’m on my way to WGI Springfield. Flomarching doesn’t stream this one, so after each class I’ll give a short recap featuring groups you’ll most likely recognize. If you’re not attending or streaming a regional, happy Saturday!

Excited for this one, but a little surprised to not see Bentonville here. Rooting for Northwest and Ionic (MIZ!) and of course all the others.

Regional A: I missed Arlington and Bryant, but Liberty North was really great. I loved the Waitress theme!
Scholastic A: Lafayette has lot of talent. What really resonated with me was the amount of emotion the performers conveyed. I thought the show design was lovely.
Union was wonderful, as expected! I didn’t really get the show design, but they sold it. Looks like there was an audio issue at the end but the performers handled it well.
Nixa is one of my bias groups. That floor was FULL. I really enjoyed this show and I’m excited to see their movement score.
Blue Springs Varsity- not really sure what I expected, but that wasn’t it. Wonderful show, but it didn’t really feel like the guard of a GN medalist. Is Lindsey Vento running this group? I didn’t see her on the floor while they were performing. Regardless, it’s still a fantastic group, just not quite what I thought it would be. Maybe later in the season?
Oakville probably had my favorite show of this block. I really enjoyed the facial impressions and the overall performance quality.
Excited for Round 2!

Scholastic A, Round 2: Edwardsville was wonderful! What a fantastic way to kick off the second half of this class. I commented earlier because I couldn’t contain my excitement about it!
Camdenton had a good run. I always enjoy seeing them perform. That’s a show concept that’s been in the works for a couple of years, and I’m very pleased to see the final project.
Blue Springs South Varsity performed the show I expected from Blue Springs. I didn’t get to see their JV, but that was a great show!
Fayetteville was awesome! They had a solid concept with a good execution. It was so much fun to watch!
Blue Springs JV was, in my opinion, better than Varsity. I just enjoyed the show a lot more, even if the technique might have been rougher.
Union JV was definitely my favorite show of this round- talk about audience connection! It reminded me a bit of West Broward 2018. Those kids had the crowd smiling and clapping along to one of the most enjoyable shows I’ve seen this year.
Time for Independent A!

No Lindsey's not working with Blue Springs guard this season. She's taking a season off to focus on her summer and fall clients. I think the only winter group she's doing this year is Origins.

That makes sense. I saw her earlier, so I wasn’t sure. I’m sure running so many higher level groups is exhausting, so good for her!

Independent A-
Railmen was great! That was an interesting show full of solid catches. I found it fun that they’re Railmen and there was a railroad crossing sign on the floor 🤣 I’ve never seen this group, so they were a treat to watch!
Spintronix is probably one of the most well known names in the guard activity. I really admire the accessibility and inclusivity that they bring to their performance and brand as a whole. They seem really small this season- i thought they had a full floor last season, but I could be wrong.
Ionic is INCREDIBLE! I’m completely blown away. The amount of growth, both in size and talent, from 2019 to 2020 is insane. I can see them moving up a class within the next few years. Maybe I’m a little (a lot) biased...but wow. I’m honored to march with many of these members!
901 and National Avenue were both wonderful, as always. The amount of artistic talent at Missouri State in huge in every activity. I thoroughly enjoyed watching them both!
City of Fountains’ show is titled “Beauty Out Of Ashes”, and beautiful it is. Costume changes I’ve seen, but the silk changes were so cool! I’ve seen that before but it’s rare. Awesome show!

Scholastic Open-
Kickapoo is always wonderful to watch. There’s no competition between them and Bentonville at this competition this season, which is a little disappointing considering how much I enjoyed the latter last year. But Kickapoo still came out with a great show!
Independent Open-
The Pride of Missouri State is fantastic. The performers always bring a lot of energy and finesse to the floor- I happened to sit right behind a member earlier in the day and it was neat to see his big personality carry over into the show. The facial expressions were the most intense I’ve seen today.
I’ve never seen La Voute before, and I’m very happy with what I saw! Another one of my favorite shows of the day. They too had a show that conveyed a huge amount of emotion, but on the opposite end of the spectrum. I’m definitely going to want to keep watching this show over the season!

And of course, in Independent World....Northwest Independent! What a phenomenal group. I wish I had all the words to communicate how much I enjoyed that performance! It’s definitely a very different show from last year. I’m excited to see it further in the season. They’re more than a pleasure to watch- it’s an experience. I hope a video crops up somewhere because it’s a fantastic production!
