Should we even attempt Finals Predictions? I feel like all out warfare will start between each other on this forum. I have a feeling there could be a tie this year.

Just keep the positive vibes going until the Woodlands makes it official. Which hopefully they’ll do soon. They DO like the every other year schedule they’ve been on for awhile so hopefully this year won’t be an exception.

not sure why this year would be different as they have been on the same schedule for some time now. I have heard that they will be there

There hasn’t been an official announcement yet saying twhs (we) will be in Indy. It’s been posed as a plan A, and plan B for next years calendar. We are still waiting to hear if the district will allow the out of state travel and the parents will overall support overnight trips.
Personally- I’ve booked a hotel room, but I am waiting to book flights till things are confirmed. 🤷♀️ Hotel is easy to cancel, airlines a little harder.
So... hoping to be in Indy... but as far as I know... not confirmed yet.

Did Columbus East/Columbus North combine bands? Looking at their calendar, they both have the same exact schedule listed, down to the mini-camp splitting time at East and North on 9/18.

Most Texas enthusiasts would love to have a high TX contingency present in Indianapolis but truth is even those rumored and confirmed are still subject to district and local governing discretions. COVID has changed the scope for such a large Travel. The Midwest parents can almost bank on a trip but we are still at the mercy of local and state legislatures. Should TX not be able to make GN I think San Antonio Super would be more competitive and just as much fun imo.

It's always sad to see band programs combine at the public school level. They can have separate sports teams, but have to combine schools to compete with the 95+% of other schools who do it the more ethical way, IMO. It could be because a lack of funding from the district prevents them from being able to support 2 entire programs, so they save money by consolidating them. Texas bands have an extreme blessing in the funding and support they get from the district which a lot of programs outside of the state don't have the privilege of. Combining programs isn't even a consistent way to improve competitively! PCEP has had quite a bit of success in the past, but fell off in the 2010s. Lawrence Township started dropping in placements after combining their programs. Forest Hills has had one successful season after Anderson and Turpin combined. If you think these programs are "unethical" for combining, then you are lacking in a lot of perspective.

Similar to "The Pride of Lawrence Township" when Lawrence Central and Lawrence North combined (some of us use the acronym TPLT for that group).

Add: Pinecrest Academy of Cadence, NV I think they will be the first Nevada band to go to Grand Nationals? Can someone confirm or deny? I am fairly certain that there has never been a band from Nevada attend Grand Nationals. I think it was 1985 that an Arizona band attended. So as far as I know, the states that have not sent a band to Grand Nationals besides Nevada are; Maine, New Hampshire, Vermont, Rhode Island, Delaware, North Dakota, Montana, Wyoming, New Mexico, Idaho and Washington (Washington state did however send at least one band (University HS) to the Summer Nationals). And for those that are new to BOA, a few years back we even had bands from Alaska and Hawaii attend.

What an experience that must have been for the kids. And Maui and Mililani always brought high-energy and intriguing show design.

I think we’ll see Clovis stop by some time soon. New Mexico should be off that list then.

I also find it interesting that we’ve had bands from Hawaii & Alaska but not Idaho or up until this point Nevada. I know we’ve only ever seen one band from Oregon, a state that used to be on the list. West Salem, and they made semifinals pretty nicely.

If you think these programs are "unethical" for combining, then you are lacking in a lot of perspective. Th3 original comment has many “grey”areas and should be treaded accordingly. Combining “township” programs is no new idea and the Midwest has their fair share. Anyone that has been a fan of the sport is familiar with the success and failures. Texans do not have a reference point and so dissension ideas come off at insensitive or apolitical. I think inadvertently imo. I do not have to remind the older Indiana fans that when Lawrence Township announced there was an uproar on several publications and MFA board debates were abound! Let’s just take it easy(both sides).
