Isn't there another new school due to open in the ISD that would keep Leander's size down? LeanderMommaThe original projection date for the new school was 2022. I don’t know what the new projected date is but it’s going to surely be needed soon with the insane growth in the Northern Leander area. Edit: Leander ISD High School No. 7 is recommended for 2025-26. Further, HS 7 will take from Rouse and Vista Ridge. There might be some slight shifting elsewhere, but nothing substantial. HS 8 will impact Leander (and Glenn and a slight bit of Cedar Park) directly.

I can’t even fathom eight high schools in the Leander/Cedar Park area, but with the population explosion there, it’s not really surprising. When we moved to the area in 1997, Leander HS was the ONLY high school! It’s amazing how much it has changed in such a relatively short time. 😳

We moved here in 1985 and there were 2 city high schools and 2 smaller county high schools. Today there are 9 public high schools and 1 smaller, the other smaller is now one of the large schools. Private schools are in demand also but we don't count them.

Fishers, IN is growing the same way. I've heard a new high school is in the works! When you have IkEA and Top Golf among 1,000,000 things off an exit..... Traffic is going to suck!!! Right now there are only 2 high schools!

Right now there are only 2 high schools! As of right now, the Hamilton Southeastern school district (home to Fishers HS and Hamilton SE HS) is plateauing a bit in enrollment. Their k-5 class sizes are lower than their 6-12 classes. Also, their housing growth is not generating the same amount of student population that it did previously. The new housing is older folks and less kids. I’m not sure a 3rd HS is in the offing. Though they may pursue an early college HS program that will steal enrollment from the existing High Schools.

If anything, Franklin Central is now the most likely to expand at this point. The area around the school has seen exosive growth in the last few years as families are moving down there for cheaper home prices and a good school system in the Franklin township.
The caveat here is the current high school will be expanded to accommodate the growth, so I don't really quite forsee a new school opening per se, but it's the most likely candidate at this point.

It takes a ton of growth and a large student population to justify 2 high schools. Not to mention the type of capital commitment ($125 million plus to build a new HS). Unless the goal is to go down a class in band and athletics, of course. If FC split today they would be 2 class B schools. And their k-5 class sizes aren’t terriblodifferent than their 6-12 classes so there isn’t that much student population growth at the moment. Basically you have to be 3400 kids or bigger to stay in A. After a quick glance Carmel, Ben Davis, HSE, Fishers, Warren Central and Penn are the only HS buildings big enough to pull it off. Fishers and HSE are in the same district so I can’t see them splitting one and not the other. Indiana isn’t Texas where they grow so fast they can open up a BOA AAAA school with a little redistricting.

FC is growing pretty quickly but they were already at the low end of A anyway and the growth will likely top at sometime around 3-3.5k or so (easily manageable). Indiana school population growth has stagnated for a significant amount of time now as the Midwest as a whole is experiencing massive brain drain, meaning people who will start families are basically escaping, therefore no students to grow the school populations obviously. It's more than likely townships and the like in Indiana will just start merging schools together than seeing a new public school open up.

Update: Change Lakeland, MI to Huron Valley, MI
Lakeland HS and Milford HS (both Huron Valley Public Schools) will be competing as a combined band this year.
They already do this for winter activities and Milford has struggled with numbers in recent years - so not really a surprise.
Combined, Lakeland/Huron Valley will move from AA to AAAA.

Did not hear this; very interesting. For me it is however a little sad. They both have had such a long period of success, especially Lakeland. Now if Walled Lake Central decides to do this with West and North, that could really be interesting.

Pooling resources like this for these schools will make them one to watch. Over the last couple decades, Walled Lake has traditionally had one of the better funded music education programs in the state.

That would easily put them in AAAA. WLC has waffled between AA and AAA the past few years.

Yes, A combined Walled Lake Central and Western would be in class AAAA. There is a third high school in the district, Walled Lake Northern the newest of the three, which is actually very close to Walled Lake Central High School and covers the part of the district that has been growing the fastest. Seems a bit odd that western and central would consolidate without northern. Who knows maybe at some point they will. Pooling resources together in a district like that will make them one to watch over the coming years.

The chances of Bell returning to Nats is completely off the table. :/
However, I'm happy to see the #TeamTexas list being really strong and promising! I've heard a little bit of CTJ's music and it sounds incredible already. 2021 will be quite the exciting and competitive year.

I was definitely hoping they would attend. And I agree with you on the CTJ music! I think they already have something special going on with that opener, and I’m very excited to see how it plays out this fall (pun intended).

I do think they will go to GN at some point as they certainly could makes finals if they keep their 2019 performance levels. But coming off this crazy non- 2020 marching season, I don’t blame any band for not attending - who knows what effect the pandemic has had on our favorite bands. Anyone know anything about Wando? They’re another i’m not sure about.
