From what I have just heard we can expect a formal announcement from ISSMA tomorrow. Outlook bleak. I have heard the same thing. Unfortunately, this is not surprising in our current landscape. 2020: The Year Without a Marching Band... (to the tune of the old Rankin/Bass tv special: The Year Without a Santa Claus)

On the William Mason web page calendar, there is an event called "Finale Showcase at Lucas Oil Stadium" on October 24. Any information from our Indiana folks about what this event might be? There's nothing readily identifiable via a Google search.

Calendar changed from BOA Indianapolis Super Regional (Friday and Saturday) to blank to listing the above noted event. Definitely NOT a case of the calendar not being updated.

I have heard rumors about Avon trying to host their normal competition in September and maybe another exhibition type show. May be related to this?

I have heard rumors about Avon trying to host their normal competition in September and maybe another exhibition type show. May be related to this? Some updates that I know of: Last thing that I heard was that Avon is still moving forward with their invitational this year. It will be held on Saturday, September 26th BUT it will not be competitive. There will be a judging panel, but it will be for feedback only. I know Homestead is still moving forward with their community day also, which will be held on Saturday, September 19th. An evening full of fun and will end with the Spartan Alliance Band preforming their 2020 show "Order & Chaos". Anyone is welcome to attend. Castle has been working on their show also, and will be attending 2 invitationals this year, 9/12 – Evansville Central Showcase and 9/19 – Evansville North Showcase. They have also been doing live streams on their fan page that you can catch each week. Carmel has been working on a non competitive show for their football games this season. I have heard that as of now they are NOT planning on attending Avon's invitational. Fishers is also working on a non competitive show and will be preforming at their football games this year. Also, not planning to attend the Avon invitational at this time.

I was in Indy last week and had the pleasure of watching Avon practice Thursday evening. I really love their Vintage show and they still look and sound magnificent!

I have been able to watch Avon this season also. For those that don't know, Avon's show this season is "Vintage" and they are reusing their props from last season this year and aspects from other shows in the past. I have also stopped by and watched Homestead. They are not using any understudies this season. It will be interesting to see if that is a 2020 season change or if the change will be implemented from this point on.

I sure wish they could televise those! Just for you, a link to stream online www.brownsburg.k12.in.us/bcsc-tvThe schedule is (all times Eastern): 4:30 Triton Central 4:55 Warren Central 5:30 Northwestern 5:53 Columbus North 6:30 Lebanon 6:55 Terre Haute South 7:20 Noblesville 8:00 Monrovia 8:25 Avon 9:00 Perry Meridian 9:25 Brownsburg There is an on-field clinic between each band, and stands are cleared during every 30-minute break between every other band. We are using a color-coded ticket system, so parents must have the correct color ticket to see their band. In addition to the clinic, bands will be getting feedback from a panel of judges - Richard Saucedo – Former Director of Bands – Carmel High School (1980-2013). Randy Greenwell – Former Director of Bands – Lawrence Central High School (1993-2017) Kyle Young – Associate Director of Bands – Carmel High School Jordan Lalama – Independent Pageantry Designer and Adjudicator, National Visual Clinician and Instructor. Visual Caption Head – Broken Arrow High School. Jeff Young – Visual Caption Head – Carmel High School Ralph Stewart – Independent Pageantry Designer and Adjudicator, National Visual Clinician and Instructor. Noren Kaflik – Independent Pageantry Designer and Adjudicator. Former Director of Color Guard – Broken Arrow High School. Zach Schlicher – Independent Percussion Designer and Adjudicator. Boston Crusaders Percussion Staff. Former Percussion Caption Head – Carolina Crown. Drumline coordinator – Brownsburg High School. Enjoy!

Unfortunately, I'll have to work tonight but I was hoping to catch this invitational when it happens. I'm really impressed by the requirements of being in person. I'm still one that's wary of putting on invitationals in this climate, but this is a very thorough process here.

From what I hear, there are a few tickets available at the gate. I believe the last segment with Brownsburg is sold out, but not sure about the Avon segment.
If anyone comes in person, say hi - I’m working the stands 6:30-9:30. Short red hair.

I'm still one that's wary of putting on invitationals in this climate, but this is a very thorough process here. A climate where positivity rates in Central Indiana are mostly below 5%, very few schools are having positive tests related to school attendance, very few positive cases are tied back to school events like football games, and social distancing/mask wearing has become the norm at outdoor school based events?

www.facebook.com/watch/?v=1291150874550357&extid=OQMPSyhMhIMRNAvlThis is the facebook broadcast of last Saturday's Evansville Vanderburg School Corp showcase at Evansville Central on 9/12/20. There is a continuous feed so there is a lot of time between bands so I put some time references if you want to jump to any specific band. It was great to be there and do something "normal" for our bands!!!! Evansville North 0:11:15 Jasper 0:25:30 Bosse 1:21:20 Castle 1:40:00 F.J. Reitz 2:38:50 Evansville Harrison 2:53:00 Evansville Central 3:08:30

Same bands that were at Brownsburg this past Saturday - it will be interesting to gauge improvement. I loved Noblesville’s show - very creative and entertaining, and the kids really sold it!

Thanks for gathering all this info! I've not been able to make to any of the events just yet, but I'm sure many others are thankful for the opportunity.
