So with many programs simply trying to get through this current season to push forward to next year, in hopes of life getting back to normal enough to let the competitive season happen, what do we think will happen? Will BOA/UIL/USBANDS/ISSMA run like normal? Will certain high schools continue with their big future plans? Will high school band programs be better or worse, with a year off? (I don’t know if this forum will stay, but this is something that I’d like to see thoughts from the community as a whole)

Having a normal competitive season in Fall 2021 depends entirely on the production, distribution and wide adoption of an effective vaccine. Soooo, we'll just have to wait and see. If 2021 can't be a normal season I do think we'll see more areas with more active marching bands than this Fall and at least some competing on the local/regional level.
If things do get back to normal I think the perennially strong programs will be able to mostly maintain their level. Smaller programs without large teaching staffs are more likely to have problems recovering with only having half their students having been through a normal season.

I think if we knew in late July when most o the state organizations cancelled what we know today, most states would have held a state competitions. In Indiana sports are going with little issue. ISSMA could have pulled off a modified schedule.
If things are roughly the same a year form now, I see state/local competitions circuits happening without questions.

I think we'll definitely see competitions return to semi-normal next year, but whether we see programs return to normal will be heavily dependent on many programs' ability to raise money. It's much more difficult to raise money in a down economy and many fundraisers are events which require many people to congregate in a location...and that's not a slam dunk.

With the recent Music For All announcement of them planning the full Regional Schedule, and for the fact that they are keeping all of the Super Regionals that were previously planned, raises high hopes for the next competitive season.

I see nothing holding any of it back for 2021. We will be out of an election cycle and there is no way this coronavirus will be a threat to the public at large fall of 2021. As for a vaccine they’ve never come up with one before for any coronavirus ever so I have doubts they will now - hope I’m wrong.
I have a heavy heart seeing many programs try to salvage something for this season. Many programs lost momentum, recruiting, funds, performance opportunities ... such an absolute shame and it never had to be like this.
I’m so glad bands like Carmel and Avon went ahead with producing something and showing the world it’s worth going on! (Of course we all know this here, but apparently it’s going to take some serious convincing for others).
If Avon and Carmel can produce their programs right now why exactly can’t wgi have live events? Insanity

If Avon and Carmel can produce their programs right now why exactly can’t wgi have live events? Are you really comparing a single HS program producing a show with a national organization creating a multi-state competitive circuit which often includes overnight travel and thousands of spectators, staff and performers on a site for day or 2 (or more)? Even if you want to rope in the fact that Avon hosted a marching band invitational this is a ludicrous comparison.
