Does this open the door for some crazy intense local festivals? I can see schools in LISD like Leander and Rouse sharing Bible stadium for a fundraiser and putting on a competition at Leander HS. Vista Ridge already has a festival and there’s the Texas Marching Classic. Also, will this open up a stronger state competition circuit? More regionals along the way? It’s interesting to think about with the prospect of the 2021 BOA season possibly canceling. No I don’t have insider info. I’m just being realistic and yet hopeful for an amazing alternative to BOA if the worst happens and they fold.
Everyone come to Texas! 🥰

Bible is a HORRIBLE location for marching contests.

I would expect there to be enough support within the industry to revive it in some capacity if MFA goes under. Maybe a significantly scaled back circuit for a few years. I am sure Larry and Scott McCormick would hate to see Bands of America go under. If things start looking bad, I would not be opposed to MFA doing more fundraising campaigns and a call for donations to those that can afford it. We are probably jumping the gun here. If an aggressive testing and contact tracing program can be implemented in 2021, I will be much more optimistic.
Prior to Marching Bands of America's founding in 1976, there were still marching band circuits that operated on the state and regional level. I do not see that changing, even if it takes a while to bounce back from this.

It would be nice to see contests like Westlake flourish again. I had 3 kids in the Round Rock band 07-15. That contest use to easily draw 20-30 bands. Now they're lucky if they get 10. Cap City at Burger stadium too.

Bible is a HORRIBLE location for marching contests. The stadium itself is awesome but the parking situation would definitely be a hindrance. We could do a smaller contest tho. Or park buses up and down Bagdad Rd. 🤪

Cap City at Burger stadium too. How was the parking lot situation out there? Parking was the one downside. Since the contest has not attracted that many bands the last few years parking was not an issue. Previous to that the parking lot that is there filled up fast so I ended up parking along the side of the road. The contest is nicely run. The facility is very nice, of course it's Westlake. Added bonus you get a nice view of the Austin skyline.

I do not see that changing, even if it takes a while to bounce back from this. Yeah if MFA/BOA were to go under the activity would survive. There are many, many times more bands around the country that compete that have never participated in even a single BOA event than there are bands that have. While it would definitely be a huge loss I think something else would come along to replace it in fairly short order. That said, I don't think MFA/BOA will go under. Maybe there will be some reevaluation of what shows to hold to make their operations more cost efficient.
