Dobyns-Bennett H.S., TN: "The Promise of Living" Unsure of the musical selections, but it "is a love letter to the mountains we call home" (Appalachian Mountains) I’m late to the party but this show sounds really nice to me and a design like this absolutely has home in Grand National finals.

I do love a vague BA show á la 2011 and 2014.

A bit surprised to find a show titled "Juliet Letters" apparently features nothing from the Elvis Costello / Brodsky Quartet album by that name. My college roommate bought that one and played it repeatedly when it was released in 1993.

Broken Arrow’s 2021 show: “The Edge of Eternity” Wow! Yes! It’s a vague concept with objects, many circles. That’s truly about the best I can describe it, lol.

Let's say bowling alley carpets are involved in BA's shows, too.

I think that The Woodlands is very obviously a fan favorite in that it’s styled after a very fun show and it performs the content from that show excellently so that you can really focus on enjoying the fun. I think there’s a sort of unique charm that’s completely independent that CTJ has and I think that Broken Arrow will have as well

Speaking of Broken Arrow being mysterious has anyone heard anything on Blue Springs? Saw a video of them from today and they probably have my favorite show this season, definitely on par with their 2018 show. It reminds me of a cross between Spirit of Atlanta's 2019 show and Hebron's 2015 show.

Anyone know the piece Brownsburg is using in their second movement (the one that starts with the flute solo)? It sounds so familiar but I'm going crazy trying to remember what it is.

I must say, I am not a fan of the movement to crazy show specific uniforms. just creates a larger gap between the haves and have nots.

Opener I'm positive is Flight by Oliver Davis. They definitely play Wind Beneath My Wings toward the end. They're also supposedly playing music by Jean Sibelius. Not sure if that's still to come or if that's what you're hearing. If you figure it out I would love to know!

The part that starts with the flute and the props moving across the field is Dance - I think the very opening portion has part of Flight. The Sibelius is yet to come.
(You know how there's always a part of every show that gets stuck in your head as a band parent and you find yourself humming it at the grocery store? This year it's that flute part.)

Dance by Oliver Davis Oh this is fantastic to hear in its original form! I've kind of gone down the rabbit hole, so thank you for this. The piece I'm referring to is actually the one that comes right after this one. The one the front ensemble leads off, and then the solo flute player on the front podium while the wind players behind her pair off for some movement. The brass then turns backfield and marches at half tempo while replaying the melody the flute soloist played. Any idea which piece that one is?

Air Waltz by Oliver Davis That's it, thank you! Man, what a beautiful piece. This may go down as my favorite musical production of the year. The arrangement, including the front ensemble writing, is just so perfect.

Now I know where I've heard this before! Rouse is playing the same piece in their show this year. It's interesting to see the two different takes on it this year.
