Editor's note: This is the official thread for HEB 2021. The event is scheduled to be held Oct. 2, 2021, at Pennington Field.
I feel like a thread for this contest is necessary as it's on the same level as a BOA regional. Don't know who all is exactly signed up, but here is who I have so far.
Keller HS Timber Creek HS Grapevine HS Aledo HS Coppell HS Wakeland HS

Marcus usually attends. I think Boswell, Forney, and The Colony are likely as well.

How comparable are these sheets to BOA?

How comparable are these sheets to BOA? Taken directly from the HEB Marching Contest website description: “Nine adjudicators critique all components of the performance and make constructive comments in an effort to promote improvement and solidify achievement. Seven judges determine total score. The weight of the numbers places 60% of the value on music and 40% on visual, as well as 60% on general effect and 40% on performance. Each judge is assigned a specific area of focus. Ensemble and general effect judges are located at a vantage point from above. Individual performance judges are located on the field. Percussion and color guard are critiqued by specialists focusing on those components, separate from the band as a whole. Their numbers determine placement within caption only and are not part of the total score.” So it’s extremely close, just with added judges for percussion and color guard that don’t factor into the final scores. I’m assuming those sections do also factor into the music and visual judging respectively though and the separate judges are just for more specific evaluation regarding those captions.

The only difference possible is in what details are included in the rubric from which scores are derived.

Oh so this’ll be a nice gauge to how bands might shape up at BOA. That’s nice.

This competition is streaming on the LD Bell Band YouTube channel with a high cam. Audio quality is pretty poor unfortunately but it's better than nothing for those that aren't at the event.
